Introduction: I am a professional musician based out of Los Angeles, California. I offer lessons for guitar and bass either at my studio in hollywood or online using zoom or skype. As a professional music instructor with 20 years playing and 10 plus years teaching experience, I am comfortable teaching large classes, small groups and individual private lessons. My specialties include musical concepts such as: timing, repertoire, music theory, technique, sight reading, improvisation, and song writing. I am proficient at instructing guitar, bass, drums, banjo, mandolin, and piano. I enjoy instructing various music styles including; jazz, classical, rock, funk, soul, country, and bluegrass I’ve also been touring since I was 21. I have played festivals and shows all over the USA, Canada, China, and Taiwan. Most recently I have performed the Sea Hear Now Music Festival, and went on tour with Eagles of Death Metal. I love helping people unlock talents they never knew they had. Teaching is a very rewarding experience. I’m here to help.

I've had a couple of lessons so far with Brent, and he's been great! He's very knowledgeable and experienced as both a teacher and player, and I already feel like I've gotten a lot out of the lessons. I think he would be great for all levels, and the lessons are fun and move at the right pace.

I played guitar most of my life (off & on) and consider myself an intermediate player. I have had lessons over the years from 4 or 5 instructors. Recently, with both kids out of the house, I decided to return to guitar once again. I met Brent through a ‘school of rock’ like place. Brent is warm, inviting, respectful, has “no pressure” like manner, his knowledge and acumen of the guitar is obvious. He will develop your education at your gear of understanding and bring you to the next level. Two of the first things I recognized about Brent was that he had a curriculum to develop his students (some instructors will ask; what are you up to, or what do you want to work on?). The other thing... his ability to teach modes & sophisticated theory is seamless and how they overlap, (ie major modes to pentatonic). My only regret, if you will, Brent moved to LA to pursue his music career... without reservation, I highly recommend Brent Bergholm -Charles Harrison, Asbury Park NJ

Brent’s amazing musicianship is surpassed only by his ability to teach guitarists how to break down whatever barriers are holding them back in their development. I’ve been studying with him for more than 2 years, and his ability to assess his students’ needs individually and prepare lesson plans and exercises for their progress is what has today made me the lead guitarist for my band, the B Sides. With him, it’s all about paving the road to skill and self-confidence, and I am a living testament to his ability to do this.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
The student has options for a lesson at my home studio in Hollywood, I can travel to their house (if its within a reasonable distance), and I also have online capabilities with high end equipment (on my end) to do the session online using Zoom, and/skype. Please message me directly for a quote on pricing for lessons. I normally charge $65 an hour but that could change due to distance traveled and other circumstances. Best to message me and we got working on guitar!
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to ask new students questions to see what kind of music they like, and what they want learn. If they’ve played before I ask them to play for me to access they’re level. I then access where I want to go with them.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated from Ramapo College of New Jersey in 2007 with a bachelors in Music Business. I studied jazz guitar with my professors like Tony Cimorosi and Mack Brandon.
