Marcus is an incredible teacher with a patient and effective teaching method. In a couple lessons I’m starting to have more fun playing piano than I ever have. What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I studied film composition and was a drum principal at Berklee College of Music. I play piano, organ, drums, and also sing. I have a diversity of experience in music, doing everything from teaching to music production to being a sound engineer for major artists.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Look for someone who’s passionate about music, relatable, and most importantly culturally relevant. I can’t tell you how many parents say to me they don’t play piano anymore, because they were forced to learn music that wasn’t relevant or already apart of the their world. My students are excited to learn and practice, because we’re learning and playing music they’re interested in and that makes all the difference!
