Introduction: Currently have ZOOM openings!! Hello everybody! I am a credentialed elementary teacher and have been in the teaching field for more than a decade. I have been a guest teacher with a reputed school district for the last few years working with children in grades K-6. I am offering my services as a tutor during this school year. This is for in - person tutoring or via Zoom. I am open to tutoring 1:1, small groups, and pods. In-person tutoring is only for areas surrounding Menlo Park due to logistical reasons. I can also organize weekly theme based camps for a small group of kids (when they are off from school). I am vaccinated and practice strict Covid safety by always wearing a mask, sanitizing, and getting weekly Covid tests done. My charges are 90$ an hour for 1:1 tutoring; 70$ an hour (per child for a group of 2-3 children); 50$ an hour (per child for a group of 4-6 children). Ms. S is an exceptional tutor. She works with my 2nd grader on her writing, reading and math. She has really inspired her love of writing. My daughter now plans and enjoys brainstorming her future writing topics. She is also patient with my daughter and takes the time to understand her interests. The writing topics are guided and specific to my child’s level and follow the 2nd grade curriculum.

Sukanya led tutoring for our son and his small pod group over the holidays. She was fantastic! She organized super creative activities tailored to the children's interests, striking a great balance between academic learning and fun. She was very engaging and the kids had a blast. It was wonderful overhearing them laugh and even sing (very welcome, happy sounds during the pandemic!). We wholeheartedly recommend Sukanya and would definitely hire her again!

Mrs. S is fantastic! She organized a winter camp for my 6.5-year-old son and 4 of his friends. She is thoughtful, organized, thorough and her instruction is engaging. Each camp day (3 hours) had several activities - science experiments, reading and comprehension, art, writing, and math. He enjoyed working with her on all the activities. FYI, I can't get him to do a quarter of that on any given day. I knew he was having fun because he would actively talk about the activities at home and looked forward to the next day of camp. Mrs. S helped him make a book out of all the work he did at camp one week. He reads that book quite often and is very proud of his work. Through her teaching and instruction, he has become a more confident reader. I highly recommend Mrs. S.

My son spent ~25 hours with Sukanya over 2 weeks and had a great experience. She led great hands-on projects like creating whale blubber and building igloos to support his lessons on the Arctic, as well as leading lots of writing practice culminating in a multi-chapter nonfiction book that we got to read together after. They also practiced math and he says it was a lot of fun. Overall, a great experience!

She was an excellent tutor for my 1st grader during distance learning. She came daily and helped my daughter with assignments, helped her learn to read, and brought additional learning materials. She took the time to learn my daughters interests (mermaids, unicorns, horses) and brought books and crafts that would interest her. We were thrilled with her work!

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to get an idea of what the parents want from a tutoring session (which areas the students need most help in and which subject to focus on). I also find it helpful to get to know my students interests before starting to tutor them.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Clear Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential and have been teaching for over a decade.
