Introduction: I have been a certified Personal Trainer for about 7 years.and have been certified by the Aerobic and Fitness Association of America and by the International Fitness Association. I have attended Jazzercise strength training and aerobic classes for nearly 20 years for 6 to 10 hours weekly and I'm very fit. I was also trained as a Jazzercise instructor and have an additional certification as a Personal Trainer for seniors age 50 and older. I have taken both CPR and First Aid and have an extensive medical, physiology, anatomy and nutritional background in knowledge from classes and training and from experience. I'm very knowledgable and have had much experience working with clients with many medical issues including diabetes, arthritis, and back problems. I know what nutritional modifications are needed to lose weight and maintain the loss as well as coping with the dietary needs of diabetics. Previous employment included working as a Psychologist before moving to California. I have several years of experience working with clients of all ages from young children through senior adults. My personal training clients have ranged in age from 15 to 74. Most of my clients request strength training exercises to firm, tone and strengthen. I create an individuaized program for each client for every session, which is included in my hourly fee, based on their needs, goals, and progress. Each session lasts an hour and includes a warmup, strength training exercises and stretching and flexibility movements. My exercises are safe and very effective as all my clients progress very well because I teach proper form so the exercises achieve the desired results. I enjoy working with clients of all ages and helping them achieve their fitness and weight goals. I find it rewarding and fulfilling to have a positive effect on people's lives and and contribute to their health, fitness and quality of life. I love to share their feelings of success and accomplishment as they progress toward their goals. Many of my senior clients also comment on their improvement in completing many functional and daily activities.

I've been training with Joan for a few months now and I'm so happy to have found her. She personalizes every workout based on the results of your last one, and I've seen strength improvement at every session. She is incredibly caring and I look forward to seeing her each time.

Joan's warmth, energy, and vitality makes it so much easier to motivate yourself to keep up with an exercise regimen. She take all your input very seriously and thoughtfully incorporates it into her lesson plans. You can tell how much she cares for each client by how individualized and well-thought-out her plans are! As someone who has little motivation for exercise and even less time to really do it, having Joan around is amazing!

Joan has been my trainer for six months now. I've gone from being fragile and weak to healthy and strong. I had back problems and several injuries. She carefully crafts each session to keep me from reinjuring but pushing me to do much more than I would do on my own. She does extra research and comes to each session with new exercises and each session is totally different. She's patient, knowledgable and extremely fit. Most of all she's very encouraging and really cares. She's fun too!
