Jon O. says, "Company owner Dave Wilson sat down with my wife and me to go over a major kitchen renovation. It included taking out what we were certain was a load-bearing wall right in the middle of our house. But after an inspection of the attic, Dave delivered good news: The wall wasn't load-bearing, saving us several thousand dollars in engineering and installing a heavy beam to bear the load. We wouldn't have known if Dave hadn't told us. Dave wasn't just honest. He and his crew were highly professional. They showed up on time, explained exactly what they would do, and answered all our questions from beginning to end. Looking back, sometimes I would come up with a nutty idea or suggest a change to plans that would have been freakishly ugly. Dave maintained his composure, listened patiently, and then explained why my idea might be profitable for him -- but not so great for my house. That same attentiveness carried through to his team, who helped us navigate decisions big and small, from tile and countertop styles and colors to cabinet layouts based on traffic patterns in the kitchen. We were so happy with the kitchen work and the trust we had in Dave that we expanded our remodel project to our three bathrooms. Then we asked him to update the rest of the house. He installed new flooring and baseboards and upgraded the lighting in every room, hallway, and closet. He hung new doors everywhere, re-rocked our fireplace, and cleverly wired it for a mounted TV. The laundry room got new cabinets. The family room and living room got high-efficiency ceiling fans. Our home is so much more comfortable, usable, and valuable because Dave Wilson Properties improved every square inch, from the floor to the ceiling. I can't recommend this business highly enough for anyone looking for an honest, reasonably priced, ethical, and highly skilled general contractor for any level of home remodeling, new construction, or specialized work."See more

FAQs

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

There are several great options for waterproof basement flooring. For example, epoxy floors are waterproof but are thicker and sturdier than paint. Make sure the concrete substrate has been prepared for application.

Tile is a designer’s dream, giving you a moisture-resistant surface that’s infinitely customizable. Rubber sheets or tiles are also good waterproof options, particularly for playrooms, workout areas or laundry rooms.

Vinyl tiles and planks imitate wood or other materials very convincingly, provide moisture resistance and last a long time. And sheet vinyl is affordable and a great waterproofing solution for those in need of quick fixes.
