Olesya B. says, "After getting several estimates from different companies, I was fortunate to find ON Design & Remodeling. I had no idea what I wanted to do but ON Design & Remodeling came in, took a look at my kitchen, created a 3D Design that was mind-boggling to say the least. The reality of it is, they came in, completely demo’d my boring, old kitchen and gave me the kitchen of my dreams! And the hood itself is just a work of art. They exceeded my expectations at every turn. Literally impeccable workmanship! My kitchen turned out so amazing, we begin demo on my master-bath, master bedroom & closets in 10 days. I can only imagine what they will do there!"See more

Eric Albert says, "It is now two weeks out from Casa Utopia completing our home remodel project. We are absolutely delighted with the work and outcome. The scope of our project went from simple hardwood floor replacement and painting of three rooms, to a complete bathroom remodel which included the relocation of water supply and drains.Raz was our Project Manager. He maintained open lines of communication, explained every step, and kept the project moving. Previously, our other bathroom remodel took 10 weeks (different contractor). Raz had this bathroom project finished within 4 weeks (with an additional week for the flooring replacement of the other rooms). We never felt this was a side project for them. The team was at our house every morning at 8am, and put in solid hours to get our project completed. As for quality, things I notice, all the grout lines are straight (wall and floor), the hardwood flooring was cut evenly (no jagged edging), texturing of the walls matches the walls that were not modified. We have consistency throughout. We need to also mention and thank Nicole, who was our designer. She was very patient every time we changed our mind on a design element. Her quick turn-around on the CAD drawings helped my wife visualize the final project. This gave us the confidence that we were not going to regret any aspect of the final product. If we had to do this over, we would choose Casa Utopia again. We have already recommended them to several friends."See more

Albena B. says, "My husband and I needed a new kitchen and looked at quite a few companies, and we were so glad to have selected Construction by M&M. Not only did Mateo help us redesign our kitchen to make it look fabulous, but also made the whole process easy. We had no idea what types of products to select to match the design. He assisted every step of the way!! He pays close attention to detail, and even had a project manager to ensure that everything ran smoothly with the installation. We could not be happier with our new kitchen which has transformed my house completely. When people walk in they are blown away at the difference it makes. Amazing what a new kitchen can do to your home. I have recommended Construction by M&M to everyone and would do it all over again with them. They took the time to protect everything and, because I suffer from allergies, they covered the work area to prevent dust from going all over our house. They worked fast, efficiently, very professional. If you are looking to have some remodeling work done, this is definitely the company for you."See more

Hank L. says, "Our bathrooms needed a major upgrade, so I reached out to three contractors for quotes. After speaking with each of them, I ultimately chose Daniel’s team at Clarity Construction. While they weren’t the cheapest option, I’m very glad I made this decision—we’re extremely happy with the results. The process felt well-organized, almost like a technical project with distinct phases: design and implementation. Once the contract was signed, we were added to a WhatsApp group with the entire team, which made communication easy. Responses to questions were always prompt. Jael visited during the design phase. Daniel and Kobi also visited multiple times throughout the implementaiton phase to check progress and address any issues that came up. Our designer, Jael, was wonderful to work with. She was patient, knowledgeable, and thorough, answering all my questions and helping me visualize the space through renderings. She also accompanied me to various showrooms to select the right materials. As with any renovation, things changed once the walls were opened and designs took shape, but Jael guided us through adjustments and minor alterations until the very end. One example: our master bath wall couldn’t accommodate a recessed medicine cabinet, and the surface-mount version took up too much space. We had to reorder mirrors, and the crew kindly removed and reinstalled them. Kobi even went out of his way to pick up the previous mirrors and help return them to Home Depot. Daniel handled challenges with calmness and respect. For instance, the backsplash in our guest bathroom initially wasn’t high enough. I dreaded redoing all the tile behind the vanity, but Daniel suggested adding an additional four inches of tile—a simple, elegant solution that preserved both aesthetics and functionality. For shower doors, Clarity installs premade models at no charge, but since ours were custom, they provided excellent referrals, and we’re very satisfied with the outcome. I also wanted to replace the old master bathroom window, and again, they connected us with a great window company. Their crew even helped install it without any extra cost. Kobi is a genuinely warm and thoughtful project manager. Both he and Daniel responded quickly to our questions, even during evenings and weekends. Their customer service is exceptional—both objectively and from our personal experience. The foreman, Jose, was also patient and accommodating. I had second thoughts about placing a small cabinet near the master bathroom doorway, and he helped move it to the garage, reinforcing it so it could function as a nice standalone cabinet instead. From start to finish, Clarity Construction demonstrated that they truly care about their reputation, the quality of their work, and above all, customer satisfaction."See more

Jai Koolwal says, "Five stars doesn't even begin to cover our experience with Mike (Bark & Build) on our full house remodel. When I say "full," I mean we took the house down to the studs. I couldn't be happier with how it went.Scope of work and FinancialsRight from the start, he was incredible about the planning process. We went back and forth multiple times on the initial estimate to make sure we were on the same page, and he was always patient and flexible. He then came up with a payment schedule that balanced project delivery and major milestones with payments due. I reviewed it, requested some edits, and Mike was more than happy to discuss and accommodate them. Even when we changed our minds or something unexpected came up, he was super reasonable with the costs for the extra work - never tried to overcharge us. He tracked everything through official Docusign documents, which made us feel really secure and provided a paper trail for us to refer to - a must-have for a project of this scale!Permitting & SafetyHe handled all the permitting for us, which was a huge relief, and somehow even got the PGE permit through much faster than we thought possible. Safety was never compromised, even if it meant more work for his crew, and that showed us his true character.Trust & TransparencyWhat really stands out, though, is how much we could trust him. He never tried to oversell us on anything. We'd bounce design ideas off him, and he'd always be a rational sounding board, telling us what was right for our family, not just what would make him more money. Beyond that, if his team occasionally missed something, he would own up to it and make sure they fixed it rather than trying to avoid the issue. This meant I could lean on him throughout the project, which significantly reduced my stress with an already busy schedule! For me, that trust is everything, and when you combine it with the quality of his work and his transparency, it puts him in the top 5% of contractors I've ever worked with.Duration and complexity of the projectThe whole project lasted six months with some rain delays, but we stayed in constant touch and managed to stay cordial till the very end - which, for a project this big, is an achievement in itself! In the end, we had new walls, new insulation, new lighting throughout the house, new electrical lines, panel, bathrooms, kitchen, flooring, closets, vertical piping, windows, doors AND a garage makeover that included turning it into a storage space with epoxy floors, paint, insulation and a laundry folding area as well as usable space for a home office! We are so thrilled with our new home. We're already working with him on our ADU project and have already referred him to several family members!P.S. It has been a few weeks living in the home - I will come back here and update in another 3-6 months how the workmanship is holding up to keep this review current!!"See more

FAQs

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is the best waterproof flooring for a basement?

There are several great options for waterproof basement flooring. For example, epoxy floors are waterproof but are thicker and sturdier than paint. Make sure the concrete substrate has been prepared for application.

Tile is a designer’s dream, giving you a moisture-resistant surface that’s infinitely customizable. Rubber sheets or tiles are also good waterproof options, particularly for playrooms, workout areas or laundry rooms.

Vinyl tiles and planks imitate wood or other materials very convincingly, provide moisture resistance and last a long time. And sheet vinyl is affordable and a great waterproofing solution for those in need of quick fixes.
