I just found this app and this was my first hire from the app. Andres quickly responded to my request for a 40 ft Queen Palm tree trimming quote. He came by and gave me a quote that was well below other quotes I had received. He came out on Sunday and did an amazing job and was in and out within 45 mins. That was from the time he pulled up to leaving. He was very professional and made sure I was happy with the job and clean up before he left. Since my experience was so good, I have hired him to maintain my lawn and surroundings as well. His quote for that, was also better than the quotes I had received from other lawn care specialists in the area. I would recommend Andres and his company to all!!

Nery was awesome. Very friendly and professional. Due to moving I had to reschedule my appointment at the last minute and he was very accommodating. He showed up right on time and did an excellent job of trimming my palm tree. Also pricing was very reasonable. I can't say enough good things about Nery's Tree Service and I will be using them again in the future.

I'm very happy with Domingo and his crew. My backyard was in very bad condition, since the tenant I have did not take care of it for 1 year. Domingo and his crew cleaned all debris, trim 1 tree, clean 3 palm trees and 10 bushes, put new sod, everything looks really nice now. Thanks Domingo, I appreciated it.

Chris, was very professional, I requested a bid, he was prompt, he kept in contact until the actual project was completed, his team of 3 confirmed the required work, it took them 5 hours because the job was huge, weeding, flower beds, deadheading roses, palm trees and the lawn and edging, they completed it to my amazement. I have scheduled to keep Chris on to maintain the yard.

Did tree trimming, bush removal, weeding, grass trimming, and sprinkler repair, and removed the debris. They did a lot of work for a reasonable price, good communication, got here when they said they would, and didn't leave too much for me to clean up.

Ray and his crew did a great job removing two large, dead maples, grinding the stumps, and planting a pair of citrus trees in the holes for me. Ray was punctual and professional with his quote, and explained the options and processes in a straightforward manner. In the end, it turned out part of the process was unnecessary, and he adjusted the price without issue. His crew went above and beyond, even cutting up some fireplace logs for me, and trimming an extra tree away from power lines at no charge. They arrived when they were supposed to, knew exactly what they were doing, were at all times polite and professional, and completely cleaned up the debris and sawdust, not only from my yard, but from my neighbor's yard as well. Well, done, Raygoza Landscaping and Tree Service!

Adrian team trimmed over 18 ficus trees, they were able to do it all in one day with not issues, they cleaned up tightly and had no issues cutting around the electric wires. Adrian was friendly and came by to quote the job, he was organized and detailed outlining what will be done and how long it will take. I felt like his price was very fair and he was an honest person. I am looking forward to working with Adrian and his team on regular maintenance for gardening and tree trimming. Plus Adrian trimmed a large palm tree for a bonus and now the entire neighborhood loves how it was cut. Great work!

Well let me just say, these guys were AWESOME!! I almost don’t want to say how great the service was, because maybe they don’t want to do that for everyone. We hired them to trim a 30 foot Queen Palm with 3 fruit bunches, and about 10 dead fronds. We had planned to do our other trees ourselves, because we’re poor(ish), but the guys did 6 of our other palms for the most reasonable price ever! These guys really blew us away. The best service I’ve ever received from a thumbtack professional. This all took about 30 minutes. I’m not kidding. Maybe less. We rewarded them with cervasas! And then the neighbors snatched them away! If you need tree trimmers, wow, you can’t go wrong with this choice!❤️

Isidro and his crew were fantastic! I had a huge overgrown palm tree, a few smaller palms and trees lining a retaining wall that all needed trimming and shaping. They were on time, did excellent work, cleaned up everything (including the pool!) all for a very fair price. I highly recommend them!

Super fast reply. To speed up the process (I wanted to take of my palm tree asap) I provided to them a picture and based on that they gave me an estimate. They were able to accomodate my schedule by coming the following date in the morning. Prior our appointment, they sent me a written estimate, which I agreed. Came on time, did their job (trimming a palm tree located in my front yard) and cleaned up after that. They were polite and courteous. I will hired them gain. Thank you so much guys!!!

Leonel was punctual and very professional. His price was fair and inexpensive compared to other companies, including haul away. He is also very upstanding and honest, as he accidentally hit a shallow sprinkler line that was hidden under the palm tree roots and let me know right away. He fixed and replaced the line same day with no hesitation. I would hire Leonel again and have already recommended his services to friends.

Rick Mora and his crew are fantastic professionals. I had a tight deadline to revamp my front yard landscaping in time for a holiday party. They took what was 1,000 square feet of weeds, crabgrass, invasive trees, broken sprinklers, and overgrown palms and planters and transformed it into a water-conserving, beautifully designed and welcoming landscape including drip irrigation. I wish I had a "before" photo (the yard was a giant mess) and these "after" photos show a lot of leaves from a neighbor's giant deciduous tree that moulted suddenly because of a rain storm last night so they really don't do it justice. Rick's team gave my 6 queen palms (that I thought were beyond help) a perfect trim (they're already showing healthy new growth), removed half of my water-wasting sod (more weeds than grass) and replaced it with drought-tolerant plants, removed some cement borders that did nothing except interrupt the flow of the design, and replanted a small section of healthy sod (I needed a place for kids to play). They did this complete transformation in a few days. The team worked tirelessly ...and safely ensuring the sidewalk was safe for my neighbors to walk past. All workers wore safety harnesses while cutting down the large invasive "volunteer" trees and had a co-worker monitoring them to ensure nothing dangerous would happen to them or to my home. I can't say enough positive things about Rick Mora. I'll be asking him to tackle my backyard next!

Best thing about them was punctuality and responsiveness. My job was complete within 2 days of first call, and it was quick work with the amount of manpower they provide. Only took 2 hours for bush removals and 6 palm tree cleanups, plus cleanup/haul.

We contracted with Williams Landscaping for our front yard makeover. We interviewed three landscaping companies and selected Scott because of his vision for implementing what we wanted, his professionalism to get things done as per our timetable, the cost of his proposal, and his recommendation from Armstrong Nursery. They did the "demo" of our existing landscaping in two hours including having to pull out a pretty large palm tree with a strong root system. Scott helped us select and arrange for delivery the flagstones for our walls. And was thorough and professional putting in our plants, the walls, and the drip irrigation. Scott followed up with me a week later to ensure everything was working (irrigation) and that we were satisfied. There was one isolated section of irrigation that needs to be adjusted and we have made plans to get that taken care of. The bottom line is that we recommend Williams Landscaping to anyone else.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to remove a tree stump?

Once you have a tree cut down, you’ll probably want to remove the tree stump as well. You may want the stump removed for aesthetics, the tree stump could be diseased, you might want to prevent regrowth, or you may find the roots are causing problems and need to be removed. Tree removal costs don’t always include the cost to grind out or dig out a tree stump after the tree has been felled and the trunk removed. The national average cost for stump removal ranges from $150 to $200. There are two main methods for dealing with tree stumps. In grinding, pros use a chipping machine to grind away the above-level tree stump until it sits just below the soil surface. Tree stump removal entails lifting the entire root ball of a tree out of the soil. Removing the stump will leave a hole in the ground and also take more time, labor and money than stump grinding. Here are some examples of average tree stump removal costs:

  • Stump grinding: $2-$4 per inch.
  • Tree stump removal: average of $60-$350.

The final price will depend on the stump’s size, condition, location and condition of the soil around it.

How much does it cost to cut down a massive tree?

If you have to remove a big, beautiful tree from your property, you’ll definitely need an arborist. Cutting down a massive tree without the proper tools or training can lead to major property damage or injury. A huge tree may need to be removed if it is diseased or dying and poses a safety risk, has suffered a blow from a storm and isn’t safe, or is growing into your home, your home’s foundation, your septic system, or your power lines. Removal costs for such large trees will depend on the tree’s height, diameter, and relative safety and accessibility, as well as whether you also need the felled tree and stump removed. The bare minimum for removal of a tree over 75 or 80 feet would be $1,000. This may not include tree quartering and removal or stump grinding. Stump grinding ranges on average from $2 to $4 per inch of the stump’s diameter. There is no set price as each situation is unique, so it’s always best to have an arborist give you a quote and detail exactly which services are included in the price.

How much does it cost to trim a tree?

The national price range for tree trimming is $270-$450. Tree trimming is often done by a professional arborist who is trained to safely trim and prune trees for both the health of the tree and the safety of the residents and their property. Trying to do your own tree trimming is not advisable unless you have the proper know-how. Tree trimming companies may charge an hourly rate for their services. The hourly rate may be higher or lower for different trees to reflect the relative safety measures, skill, equipment or people power needed to handle the job. For this reason, most tree services provide free estimates.

One example of an hourly rate for professional tree trimming services is $150 per hour. Costs may be under $100 or could be higher than $300 per hour, depending on variables such as proximity to buildings, health of the tree, height and diameter of the tree, and type of tree trimming desired. Geography and regional cost of living and regional costs to do business will also play a role in your tree removal costs.

How much does it cost to cut a tree down?

When you’re ready to have a tree on your property come down, it’s time to call an arborist. The national average price range for tree-trimming costs is $270-$450. Tree removal costs can vary based on the height, diameter, location and health of the tree, and on whether you want to remove the stump. Height plays a major role in tree removal costs. Small trees, no more than 30 feet tall, are usually thinner in diameter and easier and safer for an arborist to manage. Removal of a small tree can cost anywhere from under $150 to over $450. Removal of medium-height trees, from 30 feet to 60 feet tall, could cost anywhere between $150 and $850 or more. Tall trees, typically 60 feet to 80 feet tall, may start at $500 or cost more than $1,000 to cut down. As the height and diameter increase, so does the cost.

Location is critical, too. Removing a tree in an open space is quicker and presents fewer obstacles than removing a tree that is growing flush to your house. Arborists can assess your tree and provide you with quotes based on the variables involved. For example, removing a medium-size hackberry tree that was growing too close to a home — the roots were damaging the home’s foundation — cost $1,500. This price included rope-down, house protection, tree quartering and stacking, and stump removal.

How much does it cost to remove a fallen tree?

If you need to have a tree cut down, have you planned what will happen next? Arborists often charge an additional fee to quarter and remove the fallen tree from your property, so anticipate this as part of your tree removal costs. You can elect to have the wood cut for use in your fireplace, or you may prefer to have it hauled away completely.

Tree removal costs may vary based on the height and the width of the felled tree. Size affects the labor required for removal, which will be reflected in the cost. For example, a tree service company may charge an additional $100-$120 to haul away the pieces of a felled tree. The service may cost as little as $75 in some regions and more than $150 in others. Regional labor rates, the cost of living and the cost to do business in your area will be reflected in your tree removal cost.
