Cedric was open to my requests and tended to the exact spots that were in need. I love deep tissue massages and Cedric was able to apply the perfect amount of pressure, which I have found to be rare. The spa was clean and there was not an unfriendly person in sight. I would recommend him 10/10 to anyone who asked. If you are looking for a tailor-made massage, targeting every problem spot - Cedric is the way to go!

Johnny is the best! I typically go to a spa for a massage twice a month. This time I decided to get a massage on short notice and searched for someone who can make a home visit. Johnny was available to come the same day and his service was incredible. He’s the only masseus I have had that hasn’t left bruises on me. He asked throughout the massage if the pressure was good. He brought all of his equipment including music. Johnny is extremely professional and I will be using him on a regular basis.

Chad's style of massage was perfect for what I needed. I have been having back and neck problems for a while now and he intuitively knew where he needed to focus on without me even telling him where it hurt the most. He covered all the major and minor muscle groups and did so at the perfect level of pressure for me. I need a 10 out of 10 pressure-wise and he fulfilled that and more. He's is the first masseur I have ever had who was able to do that, so I was pleasantly surprised. His space is clean and well put together. His music was nice and relaxing. The hot towels he had were amazing. I felt like I was at a high-end spa. I will definitely be back for more.

My sister recommended that I get a massage from Jai to help with my tendonitis in my arm. I work out daily and needed to get some TLC for my aching muscles. I went to Jai's and the ambience was so peaceful and smelled so good! I felt like I was at a high end spa! Jai was nice enough to accommodate me a little earlier than my scheduled appointment time. Jai first asked what my problem areas were. He started off by giving me a full-body massage and finished with athletic release therapy (ART). It was the first time I had ART and it was a bit painful, but quite effective. I noticed how much it helped in the work outs I did in the days subsequent to my massage. Jai is very professional and is very good at what he does! I will definitely go back to Jai for future massages! Thanks Jai!

My daughter-in-law and I had a fabulous massage. Suzie was here on time and was a pleasure to work with. It was so nice to have this service in home instead of having to travel to a location. Susie brought everything, including the soothing spa music.

"One is certainly blessed to encounter the healing hands of Dorace Falone. :) " With 3 bulging discs in my L3-L5 region + arthritis, I have had many a massage/healing session in my time. Be it in the form of a chiropractic session, spa, shiatsu, acupuncture... you name it. In January of 2016 I was in a car accident. Nothing "major" or hospitalizing, but just enough good random impact to send my body into shock - seize up my muscles - spasming my back. I knew from previous experience that it was beneficial to have a massage to help assistance the tissue back into finding "safe mode". As my go-to CMT for the last 10 years had moved to Italy (can't blame her), I was racking my brain for someone that I could trust with the delicate nature of my back condition. I have known Dorace for quite some time - but never in this capacity. I was a little reluctant at first, thinking "she is my friend - what happens if she isn't good??" But I was in far too much discomfort to not take the chance. And I am SO glad I did. :) I have noticed overtime that massage therapy is about, 10% knowledge of physical anatomy and 90% intuition. The CMTs that allow their hands to follow the intuitive path in locating the pain and discomfort are far more effective than those doing a set standard of choreographed handwork. Dorace's touch was guided in such a supple and caring fashion - with an ability to get deep into the tissue spaces - in a non intrusive way. Imagine the muscles all tight - having one big house party that is annoying the hell out of you (your brain)... Dorace came to break up that party without them even realizing! She did this by encountering each component of tension - greeting it, dancing with it and then letting it know it was OK to leave :) The result = She cleaned house! :) Initially, I thought that I would need a few sessions - which is often the case with my back and can be necessary for many people to see sustained results. However, after this 1 session with Dorance combined with the proper care and follow up on my side was all it took to dismiss the discomfort. :) I am SO grateful for her talents and highly recommend her CMT service. One is certainly blessed to encounter the healing hands of Dorace Falone. :)

    About

A spa day is the perfect way to relax and reconnect with your girlfriends. Of course, going out to a spa is fun, but most likely your group will get split up during different treatments, and you'll also have to tolerate the presence of other customers. There will always be those patrons who are inclined to shush your group because they long for a quiet spa experience. The best fix: bring the spa to you! Serve The Goddess comes to you, so that you can relax in the privacy of your home where the surroundings are familiar and comforting. Imagine, there will be no parking, no drive home, no traffic, and no headaches. It is just pure bliss. Helen Hodgson, a licensed massage therapist, founded Serve The Goddess Mobile Spa Services in 2000. While working for years in spas and some of the world’s finest, she met busy clients like you who were frustrated that they were spending too much time driving to and from the spa. She learned from years of watching her mother, a registered nurse and mother of five, that as caretakers, we women, are often the last ones to nurture ourselves! After Helen's own experience of exhaustion that led to days spent recovering in bed, Serve The Goddess was born. She became an advocate for empowering women to practice extreme self-care and self-love by inspiring them to access their inner goddess through reverence, rejuvenation, relaxation, and the healing power of touch. "Honoring yourself doesn’t mean feeding your ego or inflating your importance. It simply means taking care of your heart and soul." -- Laurie Sue Brockway Let us help you restore ease, grace, and balance in your life. Serve The Goddess Mobile Spa Services offers pure indulgence and exquisite pampering with massage and a wide selection of spa treatments to share with your friends in the comfort of your home, office or special holiday party event. We have been creating spa parties since 2000! What Serve The Goddess Mobile Spa Services provides for you are the following: * Save you precious time as we come to you * Experienced and licensed professionals * An extensive spa services menu featuring a wide selection of customized treatments * Memorable ways to celebrate milestone events such as birthdays, weddings, anniversaries or the birth of a child * Bond with family and friends while sharing the spa experience in the same room * Be pampered like a goddess by licensed professionals in the comfort of your own home * We make all the arrangements -- you just pick the day, time, and services desired and place * Relax, rejuvenate, and rejoice Experience counts. Helen has more than twenty-five years of experience as a registered nurse, nutritionist, personal fitness trainer, and massage therapist. You know you are in good hands when she draws on her vast experience within the medical, health, and wellness industries. She goes above and beyond to tailor your massage and spa treatment. Helen handpicks like-minded massage and spa technicians to join her team. Helen has the ability to turn your home into a sacred haven by burning aromatherapy candles and incense, and everything you’d expect at a spa, even music and robes. Treatments are from professional and experienced massage therapists and spa technicians, and there is no rush in between treatments. She suggests that you bring a passage or poem to read to the guest of honor and share with your friends prior to the commencement of treatments. This works best if you gather in a circle Helen calls the goddess meditation circle, and then take turns to read your special piece. This is, of course, optional!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    What is a facial?

A facial is a restorative cosmetic treatment for the skin on your face. Facials can be performed by a licensed cosmetician, esthetician, dermatologist or other qualified provider. Spas,  medi-spas and other skin care centers offer facials. Most offer different types of facials that address the most pressing skin care needs such aging, dryness, sagging, pigmentation, etc.

The national average cost for a facial is $60-$80. More complex facials, such as microdermabrasion or chemical peel, will cost more, as will services provided by a dermatologist or plastic surgeon. The products used can also affect the cost of your facial; high-end creams and serums will likely result in a higher cost. For most non-medical facials, the practitioner will perform a skin assessment, determining your skin type and learning about your lifestyle, diet and skin care concerns. Then the facialist will cleanse and exfoliate the skin, extract any blackheads and clear clogged pores, give a facial massage, apply a treatment mask and then apply moisturizers. Typically facials are relaxing and restorative, leaving your skin clear and dewy.

    What is Thai massage?

Thai massage, also called Thai yoga massage, combines acupressure and assisted yoga postures. Thai massage is based on the flow of energy through the body and focuses on energy lines called “sen.” It doesn’t use oils or lotions and, instead of rubbing muscles, the massage therapist compresses, pulls, stretches and rocks the recipient’s body to promote the flow of energy through these sen. In this form of massage therapy, practitioners use their hands, knees, legs and feet to apply deep muscle compression and stretch the body. It’s often performed on a mat on the floor instead of on a massage table. Like most forms of massage, Thai massage is used to relieve stress, improve range of motion and enhance flexibility. Some people also use Thai massage to address a range of health issues, including:

    • Relieving tension headaches
    • Decreasing back pain
    • Reducing joint stiffness and pain
    • Stimulating circulation and lymphatic drainage
    • Boosting energy

Because a traditional Thai massage session covers all of the muscles in your body, it typically lasts 90 minutes to 120 minutes.

    Which facial is best?

The wide variety of names, methods, techniques and technologies for facials can be confusing. The best facial for you depends on your skin care needs. If you’re aging and want to address wrinkles and sun spots, you may want a chemical peel, while for acne you may want a deep pore cleansing treatment. Consulting with a licensed esthetician, cosmetologist or dermatologist will help guide your choice. Skin care professionals specialize in assessing your skin and determining which course of treatment will help you achieve your goals. Here is a basic overview of the best facials for different outcomes:

    • Reduce wrinkles: A chemical peel can help stimulate skin cell turnover, creating a fresh new layer thanks to the salicylic or glycolic acids. It’s important to work with an experienced professional when getting a chemical peel so you choose the right level for your skin type.
    • Prevent acne: Enzyme facials or LED facials help battle acne breakouts.
    • Smooth skin tone: Microdermabrasion facials are done using a small tool that polishes off your dead skin cells to reveal a fresh layer of skin underneath.
    • Relax and rejuvenate: A traditional European facial often features warm steamed towels, a facial massage, deep skin cleansing and exfoliation, extractions (as desired), face masks, and applications of serums and moisturizers to leave your skin refreshed and you feeling great.

How much do you tip a massage therapist?

All forms of massage therapy, from Thai massage to Swedish massage to deep tissue massage, are similar to other spa or hospitality services. So it’s appropriate to tip a massage therapist the standard hospitality rate of 15 percent to 20 percent of the cost of the session. For example, the national average cost for a deep tissue massage is $70-$90, so expect to tip $12-$18. Of course, you can always tip more or less depending on your experience, especially if you’ve opted for extra services. For example, expect to tip more for a couple’s hot stone massage session that includes aromatherapy. Also, if you’re paying with a gift certificate or coupon, or purchasing a discounted multi-session package, make sure to calculate your tip based on the full price of the massage.

What is included in a facial?

There are many types of facials you can receive based on your skincare goals. Pricing for facials will vary based on the skin care provider you see and your geographic location. Facials provided in a medi-spa by a medical doctor or nurse, or at an upscale day spa, will typically have higher average prices, as will facials in more expensive parts of the country.

    • European facial: Typically lasts 60-90 minutes. Includes steaming (often with warmed towels), cleansing and examination of the skin, exfoliation, extraction of blackheads and clearing clogged pores, application of masks specific to the skin’s need (anti-aging, etc.), application of serums and moisturizers, and massage.
    • Microdermabrasion: 30-90 minutes. Microdermabrasion sloughs off the dead skin on the surface level, revealing brighter skin underneath. The practitioner uses a small, motorized tool that polishes your skin with a diamond tip or stream of very fine crystals. Usually the treatment is preceded by a thorough cleansing. After the microdermabrasion, the practitioner cleans away any remaining dead skin, and then applies a hydrating mask or moisturizers.
    • Back facial: About 60 minutes. Includes a thorough cleansing, exfoliation, extraction of blackheads and clearing of clogged pores, an acne-fighting mask, and mini-massage to keep the skin on the back clear and acne-free.
    • Gentleman’s facial: 50-75 minutes. Treats areas that most affect men. Includes cleansing, assessment of skin type, exfoliation and extraction to address razor burn or ingrown facial hairs, a hydrating mask, and a facial massage followed with moisturizer.
    • Jessner’s peel: 30 minutes. This is a light chemical peel that removes the surface layer of the skin to create a smoother look and feel.
      • More powerful peels are also available, typically at a higher cost.
