Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: We don't really invest much time evaluating what other companies are doing in the market, so making a comparison is difficult. What I can speak to is what motivates us. There are many talented, and capable, businesses in this industry. Designs to the Nines has a single-minded focus on the clients perceived success with their project. Simply put, we want our customers feel good about their decision to employ us. Everything we do is motivated by that ultimate goal. If your customers are happy, they continue to seek your products and services in the future, and refer their family and friends. And well into our third decade with that philosophy, we have seen that it works in good economic times and bad. Problem solving. Customers contact us with a problem that they want to fix. We have to listen carefully and determine the best solution to their problem. For example: A customer wants to change their carpet. It is important to know WHY they want to change the carpet. If it's a routine 10 year update is one thing, but if they are changing the carpet because they want to sell their house, then that's another thing entirely. The former would require a product of appropriate quality that will deliver value to the customer for their 10 year updating cycle, whereas the latter would require a product that would show great for a much shorter period of time. Obviously, the latter option would be more affordable and represent the best value for the customer. So I'd have to conclude by saying: it's problem solving by delivering appropriate quality.

FAQs

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Staying abreast of design trends and new products and techniques is critical. We have in-house training and daily review and analysis of any problem incurred the previous day. Here we try to analyze the genesis of the problem and determine what we can do to eliminate that sort of occurrence. We also attend seminars and vendor "product knowledge" training. And, of course, the community college system and the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) are excellent sources of design knowledge that we utilize.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

First, ask trusted family or friends for a referral. Secondly, choose a good listener that you're comfortable with. Lastly, choose a company that accepts credit cards. Your credit card payments are your best guaranty of satisfaction, and besides, most shaky vendors won't accept credit cards.
