Introduction: I've been doing handywork for about 12 years, first during summers and while I was in college, and then alongside my work as a musician. I love the creativity and flexibility of the work, and I love being able to see the real ways my work is benefiting my clients. I recently moved to the Joshua Tree area, to work on an old family cabin I acquired a few years ago. I had a lot of eager clients in the Bay Area, but am new and looking for more clients around here while I do work on my own place. I have the tools necessary to do most types of work, and plenty of experience building, repairing, painting, assembly, and doing electrical and plumbing work. I love challenging and creative projects, but am happy to do small basic jobs as well. I have a full size pickup to do hauling and moving if necessary.

I've had Zak come out to our house twice - the first time he installed a number of window blinds, and was quick, professional, and did great work. The second time I had a time sensitive pickup of a new bathroom vanity, requiring a vehicle larger than I had access to. Zak was able to arrange everything and picked it up the very next day after I contacted him. I will definitely be hiring him again for future projects and highly recommend him!

I can't say enough about Zak - he is truly remarkable! He can do anything! And he does it all so well with attention to detail and professionalism. He fixed a gate for us, installed 2 light fixtures (one with a fan), removed a sink for us, and fixed 2 outlets. He is amazing. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
$50/hour. I charged $75/hour in the Bay Area, but I am lowering my rate as I'm getting going in the area. $100 minimum per job. If I need to haul or deliver items, it will be $1 per mile. I don't do flat rate jobs, as each job is extremely unique, and I think ultimately benefits my clients, because I don't have to mark things up for potential issues.
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
Designed and built a two-level deck in Oakland, with a hot tub, built-in benches and storage, and adjustable shade. It turned out beautifully and it was great to see it through the whole process.
