FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Personal Styling came to me through my extensive Retail experience. Getting to connect with people on a personal basis supported my joy in a job well done. When a client had a smile on their face as they walked out, I knew I had succeeded in empowering them to feel good about their appearance and what they were saying about themselves. As time went by, I realized that I wanted to do more by working outside of a retail environment. That's when I decided to become a Professional Personal Stylist.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Most commonly, I get to meet with a client face-to-face and discuss their preferred personal style. What they want to express non-verbally through their wardrobe. We then take the discussion to their closets, where we determine what's working, and get rid of what isn't. This is empowering in and of itself because very often we hold onto things for sentimental reason, and we can liberate ourself by opening space for something new, fresh, and truly of our own.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
It's always a good idea to have an open mind and heart when entering into the realm of style. Being open means that we can brainstorm, go through what works and what doesn't. This is a learning experience for both parties, and when we're open and flexible, every endeavor runs smoother and positive outcomes are even more probable :)
