Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I love when I'm able to connect with someone and together create a shift in their perception of their style. To have them understand that they can look fabulous every day, and be joyful and comfortable. That's what I love the most, the moment of realization :)

I am an artist from Puerto Rico. Urban poetry and true self epression are what define me. It is important to me that I project what I truly feel and also the same freedom that I express through my work. I visited the west coast a couple of months ago. Needless t say the style, the pace, the perception is very different to what I am used too. From the start Yarilis didn't just show me what was going on with the scene I come from, in the Bay area but also helped me translate my message/style to the west coast in a confortable way. Helping me understand the differences that needed to be made and why. She is very patient for i am very difficult to work with when it comes to changes in my appearance. She did a good job for my expression was not changed. Fresh combinations, bold statements, aggressive subtlety. She knows the best shops, knows the scene....but above all is an understanding, charismatic, patient stylist and that is hard to find. I am eternally grateful and am looking forward to working with her for our San Juan Fashion Week. She is the person in charge of visually empowering my verb.

My experience with Yarilis was nothing short of magical. Before working with her, my fashion sense was that of a 13 year old boy - not very impressive, professional, or inspired. She empowered me to release the wardrobe items that were not serving me in order to create the literal and emotional space for a look that really expresses my authenticity. After purging my uninspired closet, she took the pieces that had merit and transformed them into cohesive, professional, confidence-boosting looks. We went shopping for a few additions that took my look from pre-adolescent boy, to empowered, stylish adult. I couldn't be happier with the transformation that occurred. Thank you, Yarilis!

FAQs

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

Personal Styling came to me through my extensive Retail experience. Getting to connect with people on a personal basis supported my joy in a job well done. When a client had a smile on their face as they walked out, I knew I had succeeded in empowering them to feel good about their appearance and what they were saying about themselves. As time went by, I realized that I wanted to do more by working outside of a retail environment. That's when I decided to become a Professional Personal Stylist.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

Most commonly, I get to meet with a client face-to-face and discuss their preferred personal style. What they want to express non-verbally through their wardrobe. We then take the discussion to their closets, where we determine what's working, and get rid of what isn't. This is empowering in and of itself because very often we hold onto things for sentimental reason, and we can liberate ourself by opening space for something new, fresh, and truly of our own.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

It's always a good idea to have an open mind and heart when entering into the realm of style. Being open means that we can brainstorm, go through what works and what doesn't. This is a learning experience for both parties, and when we're open and flexible, every endeavor runs smoother and positive outcomes are even more probable :)
