Introduction: I am a classically trained professional violinist based in Oakland, currently performing, with a wide variety of styles under my belt including rock, jazz, gypsy, americana, hip-hop and improvisation.
Each lesson is tailored to the student's individual needs, ensuring knowledge of proper technique, music theory, tone quality and expression.
Learning the violin awakens passion, patience, brilliance and an unending river of creativity and it is my joy to pass along the knowledge of my teachers to you, so you can begin and continue on this wonderful journey.
I have over 15 years teaching experience including traditional and suzuki methods. My students are pleased with my ability to communicate difficult concepts to them in a simple way, and lessons are fun and thorough.

I came to know Ms Palen through an appreciation of her performance-which betrayed her top drawer technique and, most importantly, her masterful interpretations, which infuse the music with a compelling drama. If you are looking for solo performance skills that are more than automaton virtuosity, Ms Palen will not disappoint.
