Cruz did an amazing job! We'd been working with other rodent control services who had been trying to get us to pay for a YEAR of work... and were failing. Cruz came in, and did it properly, solving the problem within a month. He's very systematic: he first sealed off all entrances / exits to the building, then identified and sealed up food sources and bins, then laid out mouse traps. He came back unprompted 2-3 times per week to check and empty the traps, and replace them. Our mouse problem is gone - all thanks to Cruz. Couldn't recommend more highly.

We called Zepo Labs for the control of a squirrel that had made a nest on our roof. Within a short period of time we got a call back from Brent Lopez. He immediately scheduled an appointment to meet later that same day. He later called back with a time of arrival! Brent was super prompt, evaluated the situation and presented a few options and recommendations! Brent was very courteous, very professional, knowledgeable, and had a really good presentation and future options. "A Good Guy!!" In a short time, Brent did alleviate our problem to our great satisfaction!! "Job Completed!!" If we ever have any future problems with rodents or the like, or other, we would certainly call Zepo Labs again and request Brent Lopez!!! We would also recommend Brent Lopez to our neighbors and friends!!! Thank You Brent! Regards, Mel & Melissa K.

If you are looking to hire an honest pest control company S & S is the way to go. Another company from thumbtack gave me a ridiculous price for the work and said I had recent activity. The other company said I also had over 10 entry way spots for rodents that needed to be sealed. The other company also claimed they used this special product to seal the entry points that only they could buy. I was skeptical since I was able to find the product on Amazon for 50 bucks cheaper. I asked Raul about the product and he said you can buy it yourself and that I didn't even need to use it. He offered to come back out to check out these entry way points the other place talked about. On his return visit he found a couple points of entry but did not see any recent activity. He also said that the insulation in the attic did not need to be replaced as he did not see any particular bad spots like the other company claimed. Using Raul saved us 800 bucks of unnecessary work. We would highly recommend his services. We like the fact that he also has the option of using eco friend pesticides. He even came out on a Sunday so we didn't have to miss anywork. Couldn't be happy with the service.

B Green was able to perform all of the work I needed, from insulation to duct work to pest control. The other vendors did only one or two of these, forcing me to coordinate them over a longer period of time.

I didn't use any of your vendors. You don't allow for that answer so you force me to pick an incorrect one.

We live in a semi rural area and are invaded by gophers and rats. Ray has been working to help eliminate the problem He comes once a month to my house and also to my rental house. He works very hard and has cut down on the population of these rodents. He is always pleasant and willing My golden retriever loves him! He is always careful to close all the gates when he leaves . I do wish that Ray would alert me to the day and time that he will be coming so I could open the garage door for him so he can exchange the rat bait boxes. To be honest I have not remembered to ask him to call or E Mail me regarding this issue. Ray has helped me with my gopher and rat population. He has been coming once a month for over a year.He is always pleasant and willing. My golden retriever loves him! He is always careful to close all the gates when he leaves.I would highly recommend him. i would recommend RAy.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What do pest control companies do?

Pest control companies handle all aspects of bug, rodent and animal extermination or removal. Pest control professionals visit your home or office to identify the type of pest that is troubling you and offer various treatment plans — complete with clearly outlined costs. Once you and the pest control company have a signed agreement, the pro will begin treatment. Pest treatment can range from the use of spray pesticides and gel bait to live and/or kill traps. There are a wide range of types of pesticides, many of them nontoxic for humans and other small animals. This means you may be able to have your home treated for pests without harming nearby wildlife or your dog and cat. The pest control pro will carry out the treatment plan and, depending on the service agreement, provide follow-up such as emptying traps, inspecting access points, or reapplying pesticide spray if the pests return. Costs will vary based on the type of pest you are having removed and the extent of the infestation. The average national pest control price range is $80-$130. From a minor bedbug event to an entire home termite infestation, pest control companies have got you covered.

How much does it cost to treat a house for termites?

Termites are not only creepy-crawly, they can literally eat your house out from underneath you. Termites feed on damp and dry wood and can chomp through your house at an alarming rate. The national average pest control cost for termite extermination is $240-$400. Treatment costs can be higher for an extensive infestation. Here are some examples of average pest control costs for termites:

    • Liquid treatment of subterranean termites: $3-$4 per linear foot.
      • For $75 per year, a company may offer a maintenance plan that provides inspection of the property and renewal of the warranty.
    • Liquid treatment of subterranean termites: approximately $400 for a 2,000-square-foot home at $3-$5 per linear foot.
      • The price is higher for additional work such as foaming and drilling inside of concrete slabs.
    • Fumigation treatment of drywood termites: $1,200-$1,500 for a 30,000- to 35,000-cubic-foot home
      • Fumigation is measured in cubic feet because it fills the airspace of the home and infiltrates the wood that the termites may be colonizing. The cost of fumigation is affected by the number of levels in the home as well as the square footage.

How much does it cost to get rid of cockroaches?

Cockroaches are not only ugly, they are difficult to get rid of. Quick and resilient, they can be hard to get rid of without professional help once they have inhabited a house. Nationally, the average range for cockroach pest control cost is $80-$130. Extermination professionals typically provide a free estimate to determine the extent of the infestation. They’ll check for the main sources of the bugs, identify bug access and entry points into your home, and determine the best method for elimination. There are a variety of cockroach extermination tools including gel baits and traps, pesticide foggers, desiccants (which dry out the cockroaches), neurotoxins, and other pesticides. Pest control costs can also cover preventive measures like regular spraying and trap maintenance. Some regions of the country are much more prone to cockroach problems than others, so pest control costs may need to be part of your quarterly budget. Cockroaches love dark, humid, and warm areas and water sources, so place traps near your washer and dryer and under your sinks.

How much does it cost to remove a mouse?

If you have a mouse in your house you’re probably quickly researching pest control costs. Mice, although tiny, can transmit diseases and also get into your food and leave unsanitary droppings around your home. If you have seen one mouse in your house, it’s likely that more have taken up residence in your crawl space, attic or basement. The national average pest control cost is $150-$200. Costs can vary depending on whether you need to get rid of a population of living mice or just dispose of a dead mouse (or full traps), how extensive the mouse population is, and where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pest control cost for removing a mouse:

    • $150 for initial trap setup and inspection (and sealing of entry holes).
      • $50 for rodent removal service calls and emptying of traps. This visit can also include identifying and sealing entry points that were not sealed on the first visit.
    • Rodent extermination: $110-$350, depending on how heavy the rodent population is, whether the mouse infestation poses health risks, how many entrances exist and how many rodent bait stations are needed.

How much does it cost to get a pest inspection?

In general there is no cost for a pest inspection. Exterminators typically provide a free property or building inspection and then provide you with a written estimate outlining the necessary treatment and cost. The home visit allows the exterminator to assess the problem and let you know what your pest control cost will be if you contract with their services. You may need a termite inspection for real estate purposes. This will be a verified inspection showing that the house in question is termite-free (often done before a sale). The inspection may cost a flat rate, such as $125-$150, depending on house size.

It’s hard to predict pest control costs sight unseen due to the variety of factors that go into pest treatment. For example, a bedbug problem for one customer may be confined to one room and be easy to access and treat in one visit if the room is clear of clutter and the bedbugs have been caught early. In another home, a bedbug problem may also be confined to one room, but there’s a great deal of clutter, providing more hiding places for the bugs and requiring more spray and labor for the exterminator, as well as many pieces of large furniture in the room that need to sprayed. Depending on the maturity of the infestation, a bedbug problem may require multiple visits to entirely eliminate. This is why many companies provide a free inspection to determine pest control costs and provide you the most accurate quote possible.
