I carry two national certifications for personal training. I am a NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine) certified personal trainer and am also certified by NESTA (National Exercise & Sports Trainers Association). Furthermore, I hold a bachelor's degree from Cal State Fullerton and served in the United States Air Force. I also have seven years experience in martial arts where I taught both children and adults.

The following are my training approach and philosophy:

Choosing your trainer is like choosing a doctor. This person will be responsible for your overall physical fitness/well-being, and someone you will spend a great deal of time with, to achieve your goals. Therefore, you must look around and find the trainer whose philosophy, approach and personality will be a good fit for you.

My approach is holistic. In other words, I address the whole picture: nutrition, exercise and fitness, as well as lifestyle. In my opinion, attention to all three is necessary and vital to achieving one's goals. As a team, you and I would create a nutrition plan that is both realistic and maintainable, discuss your current lifestyle, and evaluate how it affects your goals and if necessary, make adjustments. We will also determine your fitness level and needs via assessments, to best develop an individualized plan that is specific to your needs and goals.

My approach and rapport with my clients are extremely personal. We will be a team after all, trying to achieve your goals together. I make myself available 24 hours a day via phone or email to answer nutrition/fitness questions you may have. Often, my clients will call or text while at the grocery store to ask for my advice with regards to one food or the other. This is just one example of the level of service I provide.

Simply put, I train anyone who is committed to achieve their goals whether it is weight loss, muscle growth, arthritis relief, sports performance, overall fitness, etc.

    If you're stuck in a rut as far as your exercise and diet, do yourself a favor and contact Filipe. The gym routine and foods I was eating were not keeping the pounds off of me anymore and I was beyond frustrated. I had my routine I didn't want to break from because it worked before, but why not now? Enter: Filipe. I was apprehensive about working with a personal trainer because so many seemed like just hardcore salespeople, but Filipe was different. We met and only talked about my frustration, the goals I haven't been able to achieve on my own, and what he could do to help. There was no pressure or hardcore sales techniques, we just talked. I started a program shortly after that and within 3 weeks I had lost several pounds and inches and I was feeling so good from the food plan he put me on. He is a natural trainer, leader and teacher. I have learned so much about diet and exercise and he pushes me out of my comfort zone to do exercises and movements I would have never considered trying on my own. And more importantly, he can demonstrate down to the last inch the right way to do all of them. He doesn't just tell me how to do it right, he shows me both ways so I can experience the difference and feel why using the correct form is so imporant. And as a bonus he's a genuinely nice and funny guy! Put an end to your frustration and give him a call.     Filipe is a great trainer that would get you in shape in no time. He is an easy person to get along with and he makes you feel comfortable in each session. Filipe makes all of his work-outs fun and challenging. He would help you with your weight loss and also guide you with a nutrition plan that would work for you. I liked working with Filipe because he makes himself available 24 hours a day where you can contact him with any questions or concerns you may have. My experience with Filipe was awesome from day one till we were done with the program. When I started my sessions with him I told him exactly what I wanted, I wanted him to help me get back in shape by working every single part of my body, but mainly on my abs and legs and that’s exactly what I got and I am beyond satisfied with the results I got. I lost 20lbs in the first 6 weeks. He definitly kicked my butt in every session which I personally like cause he made me challenge by body to do things it wasn’t used to. In each session that he would see me struggle, he would always have something to say; when I felt like quitting he would push me and motivate me to not give up on myself “You only have five more to go, push yourself you can do it don’t quit now ” that’s something he would tell me and made me push myself even harder to prove to myself that I could do it. Thanks to Filipe now I feel more comforable with myself and I am not self concious on the way I look. At the end of the program I felt like i could take on the whole world, my whole body was transformed and built the way I wanted.
