Scott had to reschedule my job due to an illness. He called and let me know right away. It was no problem. The day of the job he showed up on time. He moved furniture as needed. The carpets look great and my kitchen tile looks fantastic.

I would highly recommend Carpet & Tile Care Company. We hired them to clean upholstery on furniture that was between 15 and 20 years old and had never been cleaned. The furniture looked practically new when Josh was done. And we have FOUR cats! We were shocked how well it turned out. He was so thorough and meticulous, like it was his own furniture. We were really impressed. I would hire Carpet and Tile Care Company again and again!

Upholstery cleaning. My couches are a cream color...my kids wrecked entirely. I had been a lil skeptical about getting them cleaned before, so I never did it..but I took a chance & SoCal Floor Care got them looking nice again! I'm so grateful for the work that was performed. Thank you so much!

Tim did a great job cleaning my carpets. He was on time and even took out all the shoe boxes out of the closet to clean inside there. I appreciate all the work he did. The carpets look a lot cleaner and there was no funky odor from it. They also dried pretty quickly.

After hiring and being unimpressed by a carpet cleaner for my household I decided to call Fred. The previous cleaner brought a small machine and was done very quick, which made me hesitant. After the first cleaner left I noticed much of the carpet was still dirty and it did not have the look or feel that I was hoping for. Fred assured me his service would provide different results as he works from a van set-up with vacuum hoses to really get the deep clean feel I wanted. Fred was prompt, worked effeciently, and was easy to deal with - which made the process simple and smooth. I have since recommended him to a couple of my friends who were looking for carpet cleaning for their business and they are very impressed as well.

Both Robert (Bob) Hungate and his technician/tile specialist, Travis, were enjoyable to work with, extremely helpful and thoughtful in consideration of my tight timeline to complete the work within my home in the few days I had available to prepare my home, prior to a photo shoot & placing it on the market. Their work was thorough and very professional. They took great care in insuring that my furniture, area rugs, and personal items were protected and that the cleaning was done throughout my home in a very methodical way to insure the best end result, which was obvious upon completion of the Tile Flooring in (3) Bathrooms, and the first floor, the Shower Walls, and Master Vanity Countertop, which now looks as it did on day one. I fully intend on using Sunwest again and will recommend them without hesitation to anyone looking for a complete and thorough cleaning of your tile/grouted surfaces. Please keep in mind that most companies provide a similar cleaning process, but without the attention to detail, as displayed by Sunwest, you may not get the obvious end result of a consistently clean surface throughout and a marked improvement in the appearance of your tile and especially the grout that will surprise you when comparing the obvious before and after sections of tile, as they progress through the deep cleaning process.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is upholstery cleaning?

From your carpets to your drapes to your furniture, all fabrics need to be cleaned. Cleaning upholstery, or the fabric on your furniture, removes the dirt and oils that are transferred to couches and chairs through regular use. Because furniture upholstery can be delicate and colors can fade easily, it’s often a good idea to let professional sofa cleaners handle the job. They’ll determine the type of fabric — usually cotton, linen, wool, suede or microfiber — and the appropriate method for cleaning it, either steam-cleaning or applying a dry-cleaning solvent. In general, cleaning an entire piece of furniture includes a pretreatment, cleaning, and neutralizing rinse to the body, plus removing and cleaning all cushions and cleaning all crevices.

An upholstery cleaner may clean the entire piece of furniture, on a regular schedule or by request, or do spot treatments to remove pet, food, drink, or oil and grease stains. Furniture can also be deodorized to remove the smell of pets or tobacco smoke. Furniture that’s used often, like that in your family room, should be cleaned once a year to keep it fresh and extend its life. Sofa cleaners often also offer repair services to mend tears in fabric or patch holes in leather.

Who cleans couches?

Even if your furniture doesn’t appear dirty or stained, your couches are collecting just as much dust, pollen, germs, pet hair and dander, and even food crumbs as your carpets. In general, the same professionals who clean your carpets and drapes can also clean your couches. Carpet cleaners usually offer upholstery cleaning services as well, and may offer a discount if you have your carpets cleaned at the same time. Alternatively, you can choose from a range of professional upholstery cleaners in your area who specialize in cleaning different types of upholstery fabrics, including delicate antique fabrics and other hard-to-clean materials such as suede. In addition to deep-cleaning the entire piece of furniture, sofa cleaners can spot-treat food, pet, and oil and grease stains. Most professionals also offer services to sanitize and deodorize your furniture and apply protectants to prevent future stains. As with carpets, experts recommend that you have your upholstered furniture cleaned once every year or two, depending on how much use it gets and whether you have children and pets.

How much does upholstery cleaning cost?

The cost to have your upholstered furniture cleaned depends mostly on two factors: the size of the furniture and the type of fabric. The national average cost of upholstery cleaning ranges from $120 to $150. Most people have multiple pieces cleaned at once, but sofa cleaners will come to your home for just one heavily soiled couch or to spot-treat stains. The smaller the furniture, the lower the cost: A lounge chair may cost an average of $50 to clean, while a couch costs an average of $135 and an L-shaped sectional costs an average of $190. Delicate materials such as antique fabrics or suede upholstery are more expensive to clean than sturdier ones. Having the sofa cleaner do repairs will also add to the cost. Repairs such as mending a tear in fabric or patching a hole in leather may be charged by the task or by the hour; in general, repairs cost an average of $15 each. Special or delicate fabrics may cost additional fees, too.
