William not only created a very memorable dining experience, he engaged all of my girlfriends in an impromptu cooking class! Now we can impress our husbands with new kitchen skills and dishes! He was professional, patient and delivered great value as a private chef. I look forward to hiring him when we return next season from Auburn to the Coachella Valley.

I am setting up for my 4th company BBQ using Jesse and his family, Moms recipe is awesome and there service is great. They work very hard to make everyone happy. I invite customers, subcontractors and suppliers so nobody is there at one time, Jesse and his mom didn't have a problem staying later and kept on cooking. The rate to stay late was way fair. and cooking for 100,people is no problem

If you are in Redlands, CA for any reason you must absolutely visit the Cooking Block cooking school. We had such a fun time with friends we were visiting. They were very excited to take us there as they had attended many of the cooking classes offered before. We had not planned on doing an activity like this on our stay but are very glad that we did. We participated in a French cooking class that was paired with wines for each course. The instructor was very knowledgeable and an excellent chef. Not only were we treated to excellent food and wine, we actually learned a lot about the regions that they hailed from. We met the owner of this fine establishment. His name was John and he was very hand's on with the entire night. Probably one of the reasons it was such a great experience. He made us feel very welcome and was genuinely glad that we all came. It was very apparent why this business was so successful. Many of the other guests were return customers and could not say enough about how much fun these events were. This event was sold out. Thank you to our great friends and to Cooking Block for a most wonderful experience. Cheers and continued success and excellence!

Chef Anthony Cruz came to my 4th grade class to give a cooking demo and presentation on plant based eating. My students were actively engaged as Anthony worked with them to create a healthy, quick and delicious plant based snack. As they worked, Anthony shared about the variety of fruits and vegetables available as well as several interesting facts about each, including the health benefits of each. This demo/presentation sparked a curiosity that led to an entire unit on nutrition and conservation of natural resources. I highly recommend Anthony, his passion for health, longevity, and overall well being is so refreshing and absolutely contagious!

Thea teaches cooking classes to the local youth in our shelter. She is an EXTRAORDINARY chef and instructor but what brings her to shine is her ability to relate with our youth. We are extremely grateful to have Thea and her keen cooking talents with us. She has been able to introduce new cultures to the youth and their taste buds, but has most importantly fostered their talents, built on their creativity and tested their strengths/weaknesses. Thea has gone above and beyond to help our organization and our youth in the kitchen and beyond our doors and their lives. Thank YOu!

I have had the privilege of working with Chef Brian for over 5 years. I was an Event Director for a large company who owned upscale apartment communities in Orange County. Chef Brian was our resident Chef at our monthly community cooking classes. He is AMAZING! His personal recipes are fantastic, his instruction is top notch and his way with people is unparalleled! I would recommend Chef Brian to anyone looking for a fantastic event, whether it is a small personal gathering or a large scale event, you can't go wrong with Chef Brian!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do private cooking lessons cost?

You can take private cooking classes to have fun, to learn a new skill, to improve your health, to bond with your partner, to enjoy a playful first date or to have a unique birthday party experience. Nationally the average cost of private cooking lessons ranges between $100 and $150. Prices can vary, depending on where you live, the type of cooking class you’re taking, the ingredients the chef provides, and the reputation of the chef. Cooking classes with Anthony Bourdain will clearly cost more than classes with a local restaurant owner. The number of people in the class will also affect the cost, with group lessons often priced per person to account for the cost of ingredients. For example, for group lessons, a brunch workshop may cost an average of $70 per person, a steak dinner with sides could cost an average of $80-$85 per person, and a sushi lesson could cost an average of $100 per person. Ingredients play a major role in cost, as the chef will pre-purchase the food you will be working with. Weekday classes will usually cost less than weekend classes.
