Allan saved me from severe pain yesterday. Not only was he able to accommodate a last minute appointment, he was also an excellent massage therapist. His background in physical therapy sets him apart from other massage therapists. He also seems to care about his clients and want to make sure they feel better.

Best trainer I've ever worked with. Sees each body as it's own unique self... Starts at the beginning with stability and mobility creating a strong foundation. In the last couple of month working together I have seen my body change drastically, my endurance has improved, and I'm stronger and leaner. His background in physical therapy, and his knowledge about the body stand him far apart from your typical personal trainer. So grateful I found him!

Joy taught me different breathing techniques that I could use to fix my posture, and used Yoga therapy to help me do poses that I normally wouldn't be able to do. She's really good and customizing a class to your needs, and is able to quickly assess where you need strengthening and adjustment

Shawn McClain is, hands down, the best physical therapist I've ever used (and I've used many). A compression fracture of the spine has left me in need of pain management and manual physical therapy. Every patient is different, but my outcomes with Shawn were excellent. I've also taken Shawn's yoga and Pilates classes, and they too were excellent. Shawn is a master of her craft and a superlative practitioner of the healer's arts. Most highly recommended.

Aland B Ex Professional Soccer Player, Professional Trainer, Actor, Client of Sylvia I have had the pleasure of knowing Sylva for quite some time now, each session I trained with Sylvia brought me right back to my career in Europe as a professional athlete. Sports, and health are a science. It just isn't enough to say you have raw talent. As we advance in our knowledge in how the human body functions under stress and athleticism, we learn and improve our kinetics and functionality of the body. I was trained in Europe by top clubs, and I can't believe how much I had forgotten about my training and how important my movement on and off the field was. I was trained and monitored in how I ran, how I walk how I did each and every drill in training and games, how I ate, how I slept, how I breathed etc. I am now 30 years old, and Sylvia has brought all of these wonderful training and proper work outs back into my life. She monitors me so well in respects to my running, my ball work, my training and my past injuries. She can detect where I am compensating, what I am doing wrong and why a specific muscles group seems to be exerting more energy than another. Her education and background in her field is not just an excellent asset to any athlete or future athlete, but any one who would like to improve their way of life through fitness and wellbeing . Whether you work a 9-5, or you have had surgery, or a recent injury, you must take steps to improve your life, you must push yourself as best you can, but you must do it correctly. Sylvia's passion and dedication to all her clients, myself included, and to all my own clients, is over and beyond honorable. Her goals are simple, to help improve her patients to be more efficient, effective, powerful and longevity with doing physical things or sports that they love doing. I am playing and training with much better mobility, I have a stronger core, and my technique on the field towards my drills are as strong as they have ever been. I am a much more intelligent athlete, trainer, and human being towards my body. I have corrected more than 90% of my training programs with my clients and for myself due to Sylvia's expertise and monitoring of my body and training. Sports aside, what really stands out about Sylvia for me is when I am myself. I can count on Sylvia's expertise as she monitors my body as I do everyday activities to make certain I am balanced, my body is firing in all directions properly, and keeping me on my toes about where I need to strengthend or watch for, while I am doing my everyday activities. This area of my life is the most crucial part even more than soccer, or training, because if I am not maintaining proper poster, being aware of how I walk or plant, or seem off balance or over compensating on one side of my body, I will most likely 10 out 10 times feel it through an injury I will obtain playing soccer or training or working out. I would highly recommend Sylvia to anyone and everyone regardless of age, or occupation. If you wish to live a better life and improve your health from sleeping better, exercising correctly, having more energy throughout your day, improving your health, then there is no one I would recommend better than Sylvia, her professionalism, dedication, expertise, and knowledge is exactly what will improve all aspect of your life, I thank Sylvia for always giving me a 100% of her dedication and effort to improving my health, and I look forward to many years of working together. Thank you. Thank you . Aland Brifkani CEO, ALAND BRIFKO TRAINING

Elaine has changed my life!! I've been doing yoga on and off for a few years, but a recent shoulder injury meant I wouldn't be able to practice for a long time.... except I met Elaine! Not only is Elaine a Physical Therapist, she's a yoga instructor! So she has taught me how to continue my yoga practice in a safe way. She is very easy to work with, constantly checking in with me to make sure I'm totally comfortable with the stretches and exercises I am doing. She has a soft voice that makes me feel relaxed, even while doing exercises that are more strenuous. Elaine has worked with me both in her private studio, as well as at my house, and I never feel uncomfortable when she comes to visit (no matter what a mess my living room looks like!). Elaine is a total professional, I wish I could give her even more stars!

Kinetix has helped rehabilitate my injuries on many occasions while avoiding surgery and more aggressive treatment. They are also a very welcoming clinic that feels more like a family.

I have over 4 years experience working with patients in a physical therapy setting as a trainer. I also provide any personal training services tailored around an individual's goal such as weight loss, weight gain, etc.

Watching clients bodies return to balance, allowing them to do what they love without pain. Treating the fascia is the missing link. Fascia is a connective tissue that covers everything in our body down to the cellular level. A restriction in the fascia can cause 2,000 pounds of pressure on pain sensitive structures.

I release my clients backs, headaches, & most injuries. I was trained by working on NBA players. I am gifted at my work for I travel with A list clients who choose me to work with because I help them feel great after my session.

I provide physical therapy aid. I do physical bodywork. I have a lot of experience. Feel free to contact me anytime.

At PTPT we take the entire person into consideration. We look at the injury or painful site as well as how the patients lifestyle, stress management, posture and daily activities either feed into the symptoms or balance out the problem. We understand that the body is one part of a "whole person" and therefor we create an environment where people heal long term.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What are the different types of physical therapy?

Physical therapists work with people who have been injured or people who are ill to improve their movement and help them manage their pain. The U.S. Department of Labor explains that physical therapists “are often an important part of rehabilitation, treatment, and prevention of patients with chronic conditions, illnesses, or injuries.” Physical therapists can also choose to specialize in one of nine areas. According to the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties, these areas of specialization are:

      • Cardiovascular and Pulmonary
      • Clinical Electrophysiology
      • Geriatrics
      • Neurology
      • Oncology
      • Orthopaedics
      • Pediatrics
      • Sports and
      • Women's Health

The national average cost for a physical therapist is $60 to $80, although it will cost more if the patient is paying for services out of pocket rather than through insurance. If you have insurance and want to work with a physical therapist for a specialty area, such as oncology or geriatrics, you may need a referral from your general practitioner. Patients who are paying directly for services can often contact the physical therapist directly.

What exactly does a physical therapist do?

A physical therapist is a health care provider who assists patients with mobility improvement and pain management. Often patients are referred to a physical therapist by a primary care doctor or specialist for help recovering from a surgery or traumatic injury, such as a car crash. Physical therapists help patients manage pain that results from chronic disease and other illness. Physical therapy can help enhance mobility when patients are faced with neurological disorders, such as after a stroke, and provide relief from arthritis or other mobility and pain issues.

A physical therapist uses medical exercise equipment and exercises to empower patients to regain flexibility and mobility where possible. They may use treadmills, steps, medicine balls, resistance bands, isometric exercises, weights and more to improve muscle control and movement. A physical therapist uses physical movement to help heal the patient, but also can sometimes prescribe medication as appropriate. A physical therapist can also become board certified in one of nine specialty areas.

      Why is physical therapy important?

Physical therapy can help you recover range of motion and ease pain after injury, accident or illness. Many people are prescribed physical therapy by their primary care doctor or specialist after a car accident, surgery or sports-related injury. You don’t need a doctor’s referral to start physical therapy, but unless you are paying out of pocket for the services, your insurance provider might require a referral. Physical therapy is also a medical solution for pain associated with chronic illness such as osteoarthritis and can be used for recovery after a stroke or other neurological disorders.

Physical therapy teaches you how to move your body in a safe and healing way to regain strength and movement. During a physical therapy session, the PT will teach you to use medical exercise equipment and approved exercises to regain your lost flexibility and improve your mobility where possible. You may use treadmills, steps, medicine balls, resistance bands, isometric exercises, weights and more. From young children to seniors, patients of any age can benefit from the science-based movements and exercises that encourage flexibility, rebuild muscle, and ease stiff joints.

How much does a physical therapy session cost?

The national average cost for a physical therapy session is $60 to $80, although the cost may be higher if the patient pays out of pocket for the services instead of being covered by insurance. Physical therapy sessions may last from 30 to 120 minutes, depending on the therapist and your medical needs. When paying out of pocket, session rates may range from an average of $75-$300 or more, depending on the location, length of session, and specialization of the therapist. Standard out-of-pocket rates average $150 per session. According to the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties, physical therapists may become board certified in one of nine specialties: Cardiovascular and Pulmonary, Clinical Electrophysiology, Geriatrics, Neurology, Oncology, Orthopaedics, Pediatrics, Sports, and Women's Health. To receive this board specialist certification, the physical therapist must complete a minimum of 2,000 hours of clinical work in their specialty area and pass an exam. A physical therapist who is board certified in a specialty may charge higher rates to account for their advanced training and expertise.
