FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
One hour lesson at my studio are $65. Half hour lessons at my studio are $35. Additional charges apply for: - driving to your place (in-home lessons) - college-level, semi-professional and professional students - Baroque oboe students
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
During the first lesson with a beginning oboist I will teach the fundamentals of oboe playing and instrument care. If the new customer already has experience as an oboe player, it will be important for me to understand the skill level. Therefor, we will read music together and talk. We will also set a lesson plan, short- and long-term goals, and a practice plan. Music theory and oboe reed making will be incorporated in the lessons, as needed and as requested.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have Masters and Doctoral Degrees in Oboe Performance from the USC Thornton School of Music and more than 15 years experience teaching oboe and music theory to people of various ages (4 to 80) and skill levels (beginners to professional).
