Introduction: I am a professional opera, musical theater and session singer and teach both voice and piano lessons. My in-person studio is in Pasadena, CA and I work with students remotely all over the US. I work as a teaching artist and singer with the Los Angeles Opera and as a professor of voice at Citrus College and California School of the Arts - Duarte. I have 2 degrees in voice performance from Juilliard, Cornell University and CSULA. I have over 20 years of competitive piano experience. Voice students learn classic technique, musical theater technique and pop styling. We work finding each student’s authentic sound, connecting to the breath, performance techniques, connecting deeper with their emotions while singing, and how prepare for auditions and competitions for advanced students. We work on developing each student's unique sound, connecting to the breath, performance techniques, and deeper emotional connection while singing. For advanced students, we also cover how to get ready for auditions and contests. Equal amounts of time are spent learning correct technique and using it to perform songs. Aside from musical theater standards and pop songs, singers will also learn to perform songs in Italian, German, French, and English. All of the major and minor scales, music theory, appropriate finger technique, classical and popular songs, memorization methods, and performance skills are taught to piano students. To keep students making progress each week, consistent practice habits are discussed in a safe and supportive manner during every session. I think that music should be a part of everyone's life, so I welcome people of all ages and skill levels. Student pianists must be at least five years old. All adult participants are invited! I adore seeing pupils improve their ability to sing or play the piano. Singing and playing the piano are both such gratifying and energizing pastimes that test the mind, body, and spirit. I support each of my pupils' authenticity and assist them in developing their innate creative abilities.
Rate is $120/hour and $60/30min.
