Introduction: I offer art as not only a tool for enjoyment, but for wellness and delving deeper into ourselves and our lives. I find art to be naturally therapeutic, but through exploring several different mediums, we can look at the problems and challenges in our lives through a number of lenses. I offer classes in spoken word poetry, creative writing, and dramatic movement, which all focus on the stories of our lives and how we perceive them. My yoga sessions focus primarily on slower movement and proper alignment, holding postures for a bit longer and deepening their effectiveness. I offer detailed instruction for each pose so my classes are easy to follow. I focus lots of my class time on breathing and relaxation techniques to help balance the energy of the more challenging postures I began creating art as a child as coping mechanism to help me overcome traumatic experiences. When I was creating, I was able to slow down the racing thoughts in my mind and move through my subconscious, letting my intuition and inner feelings guide my creative process. This visual art training eventually led me to theatre, where I discovered playwriting, exploring my experiences through characters as a way to personify and heal from those experiences. From there I spent 10 years as a professional spoken word artist, traveling the world, leading workshops focused on the healing power of storytelling. I began my yoga practice at age 19 as a way to better my own physical and mental health and have found it to be one of the best medicines I could have ever asked for and a compliment to my other healing practices. I love sharing my enthusiasm and passion for creativity with others in hopes that they too can make it a part of their daily lives.
