My initial hour with Paula was great. She is very personable and we had a great lesson. It is because of Paula that I signed up for 20 lessons.
Lynne Feldman is a very patient and experienced teacher who puts a lot of dedication into understanding her students' weaknesses. She adapted her classes to my individual needs by focusing on the language used in my professional area, using material specific to my personal interests and providing lots of practical advice. Lynne's classes are fun and that helps overcome the difficulties of learning a new language.
She is the best teacher I have ever encountered in my life. Her step by step approach with so much patience and respect to each student is almost certainly helping his/her not only to improve language skill steadily but also to have the opportunity to get the key of learning with fun. If you develop this fun methods which can be applied to all the other subjects, it should raise the level of learning skill while you are pursuing your career in academic field or not. I guarantee you won’t regret this.
The instructor, Rosie has all the interpersonal and language teaching skills needed to teach Spanish. In addition to that, she is a pleasant and kind person who makes learning a new language a pleasure.
My daughter has had one french lesson with Catherine. Catherine did her very best to accommodate us, being that we live so far from each other. She was engaging and friendly with my teenage daughter and helped put her at ease for her first lesson with her. She is very knowledgable and was able to help my daughter start remembering the things that she had forgotten and shared some new information as well. We look forward to continuing our lessons with Catherine.
I've been a student at PBO for over 3 years and my Spanish has improved dramatically! Caro is GREAT and she knows what she's doing. She is creative, smart, fun, and has managed to attract great students who are enjoyable to be with in class. She uses the perfect combination of instruction, coaching and guided conversation. Grammar lessons? Vocabulary? Verb conjugation? Yes, yes and yes. But there are also games, stories, music, show-and-tell, jokes, idioms, word usages, and lots of conversation - structured and informal. One of the aspects I appreciate most about class is the opportunity to about the cultural significance of language and important country-to-country differences. Caro is a delightful person and I highly recommend taking a class from her if you're looking for a Spanish-learning environment that is productive and focused, but also fun and supportive.
I've been having tutoring sessions with Elena for the last couple of weeks now and I can already see an improvement in my ability to understand and speak Spanish. She's a highly knowledgeable and patient tutor, and even when I make a mistake, she'll explain what to say and then connect it back to what we're already talking about. In that way, Elena is also really thorough, and makes sure that I understand a concept before moving on to something new. I also found her teaching style to be unique and really helpful, in that we'll actually have a conversation in Spanish, which would lead to a lesson or how to fix this or that. Although somewhat unorthodox, I found it extremely helpful, since I not only learn grammar, or verb conjugation, but I actually get to practice what I learned in real conversation. Since I've always been one to focus on the real applications of things, using real conversation is really helpful and makes the lessons all the more engaging and exciting. The pacing of lessons is also really nice and I'm often surprised by how much we actually cover in an hour. She´s the best Spanish tutor I've ever had and I'd highly recommend her to anyone trying to learn or become better at Spanish.
Vanessa has been tutoring me for about two months, and I have never learned so much in such a short period. She has many tips and tricks to help me remember all of the rules of the Spanish language. She is a very kind and energetic person who is always willing to change her schedule to fit your own. I would strongly recommend Vanessa to anybody who needs help!
Paola has been a pleasure to work with. Her extensive knowledge of language structure has been very helpful as it has been many years since I actually conjugated verbs. After half a dozen lessons I don't know much yet but feel very good about continuing with Paola and trying to absorb as much as I can from a truly wonderful and charismatic native of Italy!
Very prompt with responses and knowledgeable in both languages, making it easier to learn. Really friendly and pleasant teacher who takes the time to provide the learning material you'll need. Only minor thing is that I wish her timetable could be a bit more flexible for Fridays through to weekends as I work full time during the week. That said, she is always happy to discuss your learning and scheduling requirements, and find a compromise. I would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone.
Germana has provided a great tutorial experience for me. She is very professional, comes always well prepared with relevant material for the class and not only adds value to the class but also makes it fun to learn a new language. She has quickly adapted to my learning needs and my level. She is always on time to our meetings or otherwise will let me know in advance of a possible tardiness. Overall, I find working with Germana a very enjoyable experience

What makes me such an effective tutor/educator is that I can relate to students on their level. If they don't understand important material, I am patient in further educating them until they fully comprehend. I have a BA in English literature from a university on the East Coast. I was an editor for over a year and a half reading student papers and dissertations. I am familiar speaking to people with accents as I volunteered at a school for international students learning English. I do my best to make learning a fun and enjoyable experience. My stepbrother was from Russia, and I helped teach him how to read. He is now an avid English communicator who no longer even has an accent. Please contact me for more information on how I can meet all your expectations of me and more!
