My wife and I attended a CPR/AED/1st AID class at the Richmond library. Jim Mallory emphasized that he wanted the class to ask questions and to be involved with all aspects of the training. He achieved both goals. His style of training is easy going and relaxed which is conducive to attendees being engaged with both the instructional and the hands-on skills of the class. No question or concern is ignored or trivialized. He takes his time with each student to make sure they understand the whys and the wherefores that are necessary to be able to handle a medical emergency as a lay person. Jim’s knowledge of the subject is extensive so he was both comfortable and flexible enough to accommodate the attendees’ interest during the course based on their stories or questions at the time. I would certainly recommend Jim and his wife, Roseanne, who, as I understand it, assists him on many of his training events. She is a caring and knowledgeable person that was easily approachable and enjoys interacting with the attendees.

I recently received training from Jim and his lovely wife Roseanne in Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED and First Aid. Because Jim's next scheduled class was too far in the future for my needs, I really appreciated that he was able to accommodate an individual lesson for me at a reasonable price. The class was fun and informative, and the material was presented in an interesting and engaging way, with plenty of personal anecdotes from the husband-wife team that kept the class from feeling like a boring on-rails course. After the training was over, there was an issue with the wording on my certification, which Jim worked with me in order to fix. Because Jim works through the Red Cross, there was some confusion over how the certification should read according to Red Cross guidelines; my certification had to be updated a couple times until it accurately described the training I received. There are lists online of the exact titles of Red Cross courses (such as at http://www.redcross.org/images/MEDIA_CustomProductCatalog/m18991669_CEUApprovedCourses.pdf), so if you need a specific wording like I did, it's probably best to let Jim know ahead of time. Nevertheless, Jim navigated the Red Cross bureaucracy for me and got it fixed just in the nick of time. Because of his professionalism before, during and after the training, I intend to re-certify with him in a couple years and would highly recommend him to anyone who wants or needs to stay up to date on life-saving techniques.

I would recommend Jim's CPR class. I chose Jim because he was flexible with the schedule, offered a private lesson and the price was right. I really enjoyed the time I spent with Jim and his partner. They made learning fun and informative.
