I hired Arisel to haul some dirt I had piled in the back of my house from a project my wife and I had been working on in the lawn. He was able to come to my house right away and quote. Price was reasonable and he was back the next day with help to get the dirt hauled away. We had him quote the pending projects we have been working on in the yard. (Installing base rock/sand, install big slate patio pavers, install gravel/pebbles, sod, landscape borders, and more...) We ended up using him to complete everything! It turned out really really nice. We were a little nervous in the beginning since we don't have much experience hiring help for our projects but Arisel kept in great contact and communicated wonderfully. He brought the right people to help with the jobs too. We will probably have him do any new project in the future.

Highly recommend!! Rene totally transfomed our yard, and put in 4 very long days to get it done. His team is extremely professional and respectful of our home, took their time and went above and beyond what we expected from a lawn care team. Installed new storm drainage, rebuilt part of our fence, and fixed a old irrigation system -- all on time and for a fair price. They even called us to let us know we'd overpayed (added up receipts incorrectly) and offered to drive over with a refund. We're very happy to have found this team!

I think the best thing about this company is that you can do everything online. I hate having to be home for a gardener. I bought a lock box so they could enter my back gate and I get emails after every time they came. It's really nice because all the gardeners around here mostly speak Spanish and I can't. So I had things cut back too much or they mowed the lawn too frequently. I go on to my account and just write notes for every appointment and I do it all from my kitchen since I can see my yard from there. I think the service is good for people who need something to be taken off of their shoulders. It's automated and the customer service is good.

Len and his dad are awesome. They demo'd a kitchen and 2 bathrooms for me. Some of the demo required a skilled hand -- it's an old edwardian, and we wanted to preserve some molding, bead-board, and the bones. This wasn't a rip out job. Start to finish a this was easy and a pleasure. Communication was great. Came out to see the job quickly, gave a good quote on the spot, started work the next morning. I wasn't there to supervise the work -- I trusted Len to take care of the job. We communicated via text during the day -- he took helpful pictures along the way, and I was able to guidance over text. Great work Len and Keith. Will hire again.

I cannot recommend this friendly, competent, hardworking professional more highly. I'll definitely ask him again to help with my lawn and garden projects. Really excellent.

Jerry did a great job repairing a broken sprinkler pipe in my lawn. He contacted me soon after I posted on Thumbtack, came by and quoted the job, then showed up when he said he would to do the work. The area where the work was done was left clean and the system once again works great. I highly recommend All Season for any type of lawn care or landscaping work.

Enrique showed up on time and went above and beyond for the extensive one-time weeding project I hired him for. Not only did he beautifully clear the areas we discussed he also cleared a few additional small areas and also cleared all the weeds in the sidewalk/walkways/driveway edges. He even edged the yard while he was there. Everything was left immaculately clean after he was done. I've decided to hire him for bi-weekly lawn maintenance as I was so thoroughly impressed with his timeliness, responsiveness, fair prices and high quality work.

I hired Dinari and his crew to clear some serious overgrowth in my backyard. I wasn't asking for any kind of delicate landscape architecture – just cutting brush and clearing it out. They did a fantastic job! Dinari and Red work really hard, are very honest, and dedicated to serving their customers. While I still have some grass clippings to finish brushing up, and my own manicuring to do, I asked them to make my lawn manageable again, and they did exactly that. I'd absolutely consider hiring them again, especially at a price that is so hard to beat. Thanks for your hard work, guys!

Morgan is easy to work with, he stays up to date in his profession. He is a very creative gardener, and is innovative in his work as well as working with others. He is very knowledge about plants and their care. He listens well and is able to be very helpful in accomplishing goals for the garden. He is a very hard worker, and we were always very pleased with his work. While in San Luis Obispo, he was our gardener. We miss him!! He installed a new, underground watering system in an area we planted ground cover. He keeps up on new technologies, especially water saving techniques. He is a treasure!! He is knowledgeable, hard working, listens well, and an all around nice guy!!

Angel cared for all areas of our home including both sides, front and backyard lawn areas, pruned ALL trees and plants, weeded everything, and even hauled away all the leftover trimmings. He not only made it super easy to schedule the work, but to also meet for initial consult. I look forward to continuing to work with Angel for our lawn maintenance needs.

Luis has been fantastic. In addition to taking great care of my lawn he's a great teacher from whom I learn something new every time he drop by. So far he's helped me reseed my backyard and fix a broken sprinkler, and I look forward to working him to do additional projects on both front and back yards. Luis is a great communicator and fun to work with. In fact my 4yr old has so much fun he looks forward to his visits.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What's the best way to maintain your lawn?

Keeping a lawn lush and green requires consistent mowing, weeding, watering, fertilizing and more. If your lawn is particularly large, it may make sense to hire a full-service lawn care provider. Whether you take a DIY approach or bring in the experts, maintaining your lawn requires a range of tasks.

Plan to mow the lawn often, allowing it stay longer than may seem convenient — longer grass is healthier grass. The general rule is to cut off no more than a third of the grass blade. This helps prevent damage to the lawn as well as keeping weeds from taking root. It’s also important to remove any weeds, then prevent new ones from growing. In spring, consider spraying a pre-emergent herbicide on your lawn to prevent crabgrass and other types of weeds from sprouting from seed. During other seasons, broadleaf weeds like dandelions can be pulled by hand or sprayed with weed killers. The best time to water your lawn is early in the morning, allowing the sun to help dry the grass. Make sure to thoroughly soak the lawn so that the water penetrates several inches into the ground.

Lawn care also requires feeding; look for a mixture of fast- and slow-release fertilizers that include nitrogen. Some lawns also benefit from aeration, which creates small holes to let air, water and nutrients penetrate the grass roots. Although most homeowners can manage these tasks on their own, a full-service lawn care company can handle them on a regular schedule, taking the guesswork out of maintaining a beautiful lawn.

How do you look after your lawn?

Having a beautiful lawn doesn’t just happen by magic. A multi-pronged approach to lawn care will result in a healthy lawn that will have your neighbors green with envy. The national average price for multi-service lawn care ranges from $40 to $50. Whether you tackle the project yourself or hire a lawn care professional, looking after your lawn requires consistent work. A baseline of lawn care is keeping your grass mowed and your irrigation system working properly. Fertilizing plants and grasses, as well as trimming and pruning foliage, may promote the health of your plants and lawn. Many lawn care pros offer different packages with varying monthly fees depending on your lawn size and the services you desire. Here are a few examples of average lawn care prices:

  • 1,000- to 2,500-square-foot lawn: $60-$90 per month
  • 5,000-square-foot lawn or larger: $110-$150 per month.
    • Includes lawn maintenance, cleanups and irrigation repairs. The company trims shrubs, pulls weeds, blows out yard waste, fertilizes and does minor irrigation repairs.
  • Up to 8,000-square-foot property: $30 per week/$120 per month.
  • 8,001- to 15,000-square-foot property: $35 per week/$140 per month.
  • 15,001- to 20,000-square-foot property: $40 per week/$160 per month.
    • Includes mowing all turf grass areas; trimming grass away from fences, structures, trees, and lawn edges; and clearing or blowing all grass trimmings from driveways, sidewalks, curbs, etc.

How much is lawn care service?

Ensuring a lush, green lawn is so much more than simply mowing and watering the grass; it’s also pulling existing weeds and preventing future ones, fertilizing with the right nutrients, and coaxing new grass to grow in patchy spots. For many homeowners, a full-service lawn care company is the best way to maintain a beautiful lawn. The cost for professional lawn care depends on the size of the lawn and the services the homeowner chooses, as well as the location. For the typical suburban residence, the national average cost of full-service lawn care maintenance is $40-$50 per hour. Depending on the size of your lawn, that can cost you just $100 per month or more than $1,000 per month, but the average is about $350 per month. Most monthly services include a weekly cut, especially in the spring, as well as edging, weeding, and blowing the driveway, sidewalks and porches.

What should I do to my lawn in the spring?

Spring is the perfect time to start thinking about lawn care. The ground is recovering from a long, cold winter, plants are starting to grow, and the earth is ready to receive new seeds. When the weather starts to warm, the first step in your lawn care strategy is deciding what you would like to achieve and what you need to do to make it happen. Your next step is to start cleaning up. Rake your lawn free of decomposing leaves, trim back shrubs and branches, and clear out all the weeds. Once your lawn is cleared of debris, tend to your irrigation system. Test your system and decide whether any repairs are necessary. Now it’s time to nourish the lawn. If you opt to aerate your lawn in spring, the national average cost is $70-$100. Consult with your lawn care pro, as some regions benefit from only aerating in fall. If you have bare spots, you can overseed the lawn to encourage new growth. Next you’ll want to fertilize the lawn to ensure it grows in rich and lush. Professional fertilization services may range from under $50 to over $200, depending on your lawn size. If you have a bad weed problem, you (or your lawn care pro) can apply pre-emergent herbicide to prevent a weed outbreak. Make sure the irrigation system is routinely watering your lawn, and then enjoy watching the grass grow.

How much does it cost to have your lawn mowed?

Regular lawn maintenance can do wonders for your home’s curb appeal. Professional lawn care prices will vary based on the regional cost to do business and regional cost of labor, the size of your lawn, and any additional services you may desire such as edging or mulching. The national average for lawn mowing costs is $30-$50. Pros may charge an hourly rate, a flat rate or by the square foot (an acre contains 43,560 square feet). Square footage rates factor in the professional’s time, the use of their equipment, and the gas to operate the mower. Distance may also affect cost: If you live outside the company’s standard service range, you may pay an additional travel fee. Here are some examples of average prices for mowing and lawn maintenance:

  • Up to 8,000-square-foot property: $30 per week/$120 per month.
    • Bimonthly: $40 per service/$80 per month.
    • One time only: $45 per service.
      • Prices include mowing all turf grass areas; trimming grass away from fences, structures, trees, and lawn edges; and clearing or blowing all grass trimmings from driveways, sidewalks, curbs, etc.
  • Hourly rate: $25 per hour (including travel, equipment costs and labor).
  • Lot size:
    • Smaller lots in subdivisions: $35.
    • Half-acre lot: $50.
    • One-acre lot: $100.
