Being a Placer County Master Gardener, I am very particular about how my garden looks and even mulch has a "best way" to apply it. Sylvestre and his two workers did an excellent job spreading 15 yards of mulch. He and his crew worked non-stop. He was knowledgeable and properly applied the mulch keeping them away from the plants. I would definitely hire him again.

Isaac is very knowledgeable and works well with his customers. He even went above and beyond by putting a lock on my gate for me. He does his best working with me and my schedule so that he can take care of my lawn care needs while keeping my dogs safe. My fur babies also appreciate that you care for their safety. Thank you for all that you do, Isaac. 👍🏼😊

Max and his team were amazing. Max came and gave us an estimate on Sunday afternoon and finished the job on Wednesday evening. He and his team weeded, removed soil, laid new fabric, laid a drip system, and planted new plants in the 200 feet of retaining walls in my backyard. I was so shocked when I saw the finished product! Our neighbor was happy with his work and hired him on the spot to do some work too!

Very fast response and great work weeding my <1000 sq ft yard with drought resistant plants and grasses (no regular grass). Got rid of the weeds and didn’t remove any of the plants accidentally. Also nice to work with.

Wright Landscape and Design surpassed the problems with the drip system and control box. The representative that work on the challenges was Kimo. After evaluating the installed drip system for the front, back and side yards and connections to the control box Kimo presented several recommendations. Specifically (1) the water delivery system for the drip system needed filters to keep impurities from plugging the regulators (drip heads) due to Elk Grove using salt to maintain a ph balance, (2) changing the regulators as all were plugged and water was not being delivered to the plants, (3) repair a water delivery break to the drip system (water was gushing out from the break, (4) removing sprinkler heads previously used for watering the lawn (the sprinkler heads prevented a strong flow of water thru the drip system due to water attempting to flow thru the sprinkler heads), (5) evaluating the connections to the water control box (there were 5 connections and each connection had to be tested in order to determine what each connection covered the yard). Kimo was able to repair each problem including the water control box which resulted in 2 connections. Kimo did a fantastic job of repairing each problem. I highly recommend Wright Landscape and Design and Kimo for work to be performed on the drip system and water control box. Robert Ruiz

Happy with AB service, work is efficient and service is at a reasonable cost. I'm having them mow lawn, trim edges of lawn and plants. Also have asked for trimming tree branches. Wish they would take away the yard refuse though.

Firstly, was I surprised to find that a cleaning service does lawn care? Sure was. Still decided to give them a try just based on how courteous and quick she responded to my questions and set up my appointment. So glad I did. They did a great job. My grass was a nightmare and they managed to get it back down. I would have been satisfied with just that for the price but they went above and beyond and trimmed my rose bushes and cleared the weeds around the bushes and other little details. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

I hired Richie to rid my front yard of badly overgrown weeds. Out of 6 people who responded to my request, Richie's pricing was most competitive. We set a time, 6/23/18 at 10:00 a.m., and true to form, Richie showed, ON TIME, ready to work. He restored my Front Yard to MINT condition! Although his quote included front yard only but he checked perimeter of home and pulled out any misc. weeds (there was a lot), including pulling out some unsightly ivy growing through my neighbor's fence onto my property. No extra charge. No hidden cost. He worked efficiently and was done with plenty of time for me to make plans for my Saturday. Very pleasant demeanor, which I appreciate (why people come across angry or rude when you're trying to PAY them money is beyond me). I recommend Richie for your lawn care project. You won't be disappointed.

Jo and Jay's lawn care are extremely friendly, and both times I've called needing a short notice care, they made sure to fit us in their schedule. They can make an old yard come to life again, with the time they take and always going the extra mile to do more than was even asked. Their prices are the best I've seen! I don't want to look anywhere else, that's how great they are. Thank you so much for your amazing work!! I also like supporting working with a locally owned and operated company that provides a personal touch. I have recommended Jo and Jay's lawn care and maintenance to my neighbors and friends and will continue to do so.

Paul came to my house and offered biweekly services for $80 per month but he asked to do startup cleaning and killing the weed for $300 one time, he mowed the lawn very high, the weed was still there, and when I asked him he said I will cut the grass shorter next time and I sprayed the weed and will be dying in two days, but he never showed up again and never answered my phone calls or texts, the weed is growing higher and everything is terrible. I would not recommend using him for anyone.

Daniel removed my dining room door and installed it in the back. He also single handedly took care of all of my planters in the house. Lastly he also installed a huge and heavy floor mirror in my dining room with uneven floor (old house). Will hire again.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to have landscaping done?

Professional landscaping can help reinvent your outdoor space, boost your curb appeal and get a major return on investment with. Landscaping can encompass anything from adding new plants, trees and shrubs, to leveling the ground and laying sod for a lawn, to building in hardscaping such as sidewalks, water features or retaining walls. The national average landscaping price is $10,160. Landscaping prices can be far lower (with hourly rates ranging from $50 to $150) if you’re only seeking professional help with softscaping or seeking consultation on landscape design. Softscaping means adding or changing horticultural elements, such as planting a garden or adding a hedge. Hardscaping is where costs can really start to rise. Hardscaping requires labor and heavy equipment to excavate the earth; you may need to pour concrete, or you may need a pro who can transport and place gravel and other inorganic elements. Your total landscaping cost will vary based on the amount of work you want done, how much labor is required, and the cost of the materials you are using. A good rule of thumb for a major landscaping project, according to the American Society of Landscape Architects, is to budget 5 percent to 10 percent of the value of your home.

How much does it cost to landscape your front yard?

Prices for landscaping your front yard can range from a few hundred dollars to tens of thousands of dollars, depending on the scale of your front yard project. Your landscaping price will reflect how much change you implement, how much labor is required, and the cost of materials.

Landscaping is typically made up of softscaping and hardscaping. Softscaping refers to selecting trees, bushes, flowers and plants to achieve a desired aesthetic and to meet goals such as having a drought-tolerant yard. Hardscaping refers to moving earth, installing structures, and putting in decorative stonework, sidewalks or lighting. For softscaping, you may want to hire a landscape designer to consult on your plants and layout, and then do the digging and planting yourself or hire a gardner to handle the heavy lifting. A landscape designer’s hourly rate may range from $50 to $150 or more. If you want a turnkey approach, meaning someone who works with you to create the vision and then executes all the work, landscaping pricing will typically come down to a cost per square foot rather than an hourly rate. It’s a solid investment: Great landscaping can add up to 28 percent value to your home.
