FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Not particularly complicated, but I do have a variable scale of pay. I charge $25/hr for regular computer maintenance, raised to $30/hr if services take more than two hours longer than estimated, and $35/hr for services involving data recovery or that have an aspect of manual labor, such as hard drive destruction, soldering, etc., which moves to $40/hr if services take more than two hours longer than estimated. I will always try to estimate as closely to what I expect repairs to take, going over rather than under to keep from causing additional charges. If the problems take less time than expected, customer is not expected to pay for more than time taken.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm currently in college for Computer Science and receive regular training from the military pertaining to my job. Additionally, I enjoy staying up on troubleshooting theory for personal entertainment.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
When I joined the Army, I had the option between my current job and another one that did similar work. I knew I wanted to do technical work, and my current job had better post-military prospects, so I joined it and discovered that I really do love fixing things and have something of a knack for it.
