Chef Hernandez made my bosses 25th Wedding Anniversary really, truly something special! They had a "Tour Around the World in 4 bites" (4 course) meal, in which they were able to be hands on, and learn new cooking skills. They described the night as a "HOME RUN!" and "The best night ever!" Chef Hernandez will ABSOLUTELY be our #1 contact for future events and parties.

We hired Tim to do a private cooking class and dinner for a group of 10 at an airbnb in Tahoe. Tim let us choose from 3 different menus ahead of time and came very prepared. He brought all the equipment necessary and had backup plans in case if we didn't have a grill or, in our case, our grill was too small. He did arrive a bit late, but adjusted his setup and cooking to still make the time we targeted for dinner. The group really enjoyed the lesson with Tim. Tim was very friendly and engaging, and the food was delicious. His pricing was very affordable, and we gave a huge tip at the end because we really enjoyed his service.

Chef Calhoun was my Instructor in Culinary School. I appreciated him for his honesty and his CONSTRUCTIVE Criticism. Being someone who only had an HR Administrative background who took a total different career path in culinary, Chef Calhoun really helped me to learn the tricks of the trade when it comes to this business. Chef is beyond gifted, knowledgeable and his resume speaks for itself!

For Father's Day, my sister and I got my Dad a private cooking lesson for all of us! Cooking with Chef Pilippe was so relaxing and informative! He was able to answer anything we asked and show us any techniques we wanted to know. We emailed beforehand to agree on a menu for dinner and it was DELICIOUS! I live in Chicago and have very discerning tastes, and let me tell you, this meal was GREAT! Thank you Chef Philippe for the great dinner, teaching and conversation too! I would recommend a cooking night with chef Philippe to anyone. This would even be appropriate for a romantic evening. Enjoy!

Sicily came in to host an interactive cooking class at Stamps.com during the 4th of July week. She came very prepared. She showed up early, had all her own kitchen utensils and had the harder parts of the meal already prepped (As small cakes were the dessert portion, Sicily had baked the cakes prior to the class as we do not have an oven in our work kitchen). The employees were given the opportunity to watch, practice and eat a delicious meal; complete from main course to dessert! Sicily is a pleasure to work with and her commitment to meeting our needs and responding in exceedingly fast time, made for a phenomenal experience. I highly recommend her!

I must admit that I was a bit skeptical about raw foods, BUT Chef Tena *truly* changed my mind (and body). She has an innate talent, not only with recipe creation, and food preparation, but also with making food *beautiful.* I didn't have any real favorites, since they were ALL over-the-top delicious! Her foods make by body SING and feel ALIVE!

My husband and I felt we needed to diversify our culinary knowledge so we called on Chef Yves. The classes were great (we took 3 classes). Lessons were very informative, creative, and hands on, all in a friendly ambiance. Chef Yves showed us different ways to cook more efficiently. We also learned nice plate setting decoration ideas. Chef Yves' experience from many countries in Europe is definitely a plus and a huge benefit in the overall experience. We asked many questions about regional culinary traditions. I recommend Chef Yves' lessons to all my friends. We will call on Chef Yves's help for our next special family dinner. Definitely 5 Stars. T & D.

Cooking with Julie's classes showcase the abundant produce and legendary wines. You'll learn to cook delicious meals with authentic wine country style. Step off the beaten path and discover Napa through its food. Highlighting the best each season has to offer, our ingredients come mostly from local small family farms that provide us with everything from fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs to artisan cheeses, wine vinegars, and olive oils. We use organic milk and cream from local dairies, as well as sustainable free-range chicken, beef. and lamb from nearby ranches. The dishes are paired with wines from Napa Valley and beyond. The hands-on classes emphasize the theory and technique that allow ingredients to shine. Convivial classes are taught by Julie and special guest chefs. Afterward, the cooking class becomes a special culinary keepsake, as you use your new found expertise to prepare memorable meals for family and friends. About

Food lover meets craft beer expert, love strikes and beer bellies expand. Emily Baime and Darin Michaels met planning food events, Emily as the event planner, Darin handing sales for the beer distributor. The rest, as they say, is history. Two years later, they’ve founded “Community Tap and Table”, a hands on cooking class that hosts “Classes for Beer Bellies with a Cooking Problem”. Classes are held almost weekly and educate attendees on cooking with local, seasonal ingredients, and pairing their meal with craft American brews. Attendees learn knife skills, flavor profiles, cooking methods, and beer pairing. Proceeds from the classes benefit local non profits. Tap and Table is where the bar and the kitchen meet. Our vision is to elevate beer and food pairing from pub grub to a mainstream gourmet trend. We serve Sacramento, Stockton, and Lodi with gourmet, hands on cooking classes; supper clubs, beer dinners, and beer pairing expertise. Our fans describe us as their own private gastro pub. We use seasonal and gourmet products and have been very influenced by the slow food movement.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do private cooking lessons cost?

You can take private cooking classes to have fun, to learn a new skill, to improve your health, to bond with your partner, to enjoy a playful first date or to have a unique birthday party experience. Nationally the average cost of private cooking lessons ranges between $100 and $150. Prices can vary, depending on where you live, the type of cooking class you’re taking, the ingredients the chef provides, and the reputation of the chef. Cooking classes with Anthony Bourdain will clearly cost more than classes with a local restaurant owner. The number of people in the class will also affect the cost, with group lessons often priced per person to account for the cost of ingredients. For example, for group lessons, a brunch workshop may cost an average of $70 per person, a steak dinner with sides could cost an average of $80-$85 per person, and a sushi lesson could cost an average of $100 per person. Ingredients play a major role in cost, as the chef will pre-purchase the food you will be working with. Weekday classes will usually cost less than weekend classes.
