Celia taught my little sister to draw and paint for about a year, and really helped my sister improve her skills, both on more classical forms of art (figure drawing, still life, realistic portraits) and more fun forms (cartoons, arts and crafts). Celia's technical expertise is superb and she has a pleasant demeanor, great attitude, and clear instruction style. My sister always looked forward to their lessons together! In addition to being a phenomenal teacher, I truly believe she has professional-grade art skills.

I've taken a few survival classes with Chris. We've gone over fire making with the hand drill and bow drill, edible plants, night walking in the forest, bow shooting, animal tracking and bird watching. Chris's knowledge is first class in these subjects and he is a lifelong learner and tinkerer so he is never bound to a particular ideology which makes him a powerful teacher. He's also a very chill teacher personality so I never felt too overwhelmed by anything. Make no mistake though, mastering these skills requires dedicated daily practice. But there is no one better than Chris to teach you the fundamentals and facilitate the start of your journey.

I have been an adult student of Gloria Leiter at F.A.M.E. for the past 14 years. I have also observed many of her classes with children of all ages so my exposure to the quality of her work is extensive. I am a former educator who has helped train student teachers. Gloria Leiter is the most gifted teacher I have ever seen and it has been a privilege to be in her classes. Her training and credentials in music education are impressive. She understands the educational process and goes beyond the basics. The learning environment in her classroom is warm and positive. She is able to teach a group and yet be personally involved with each student. She is thorough in her presentation of material, making sure that each concept is fully understood by all students. Her ability to pair learning with joy, fun, and excitement provides an atmosphere that children and adults embrace. They are successful starting with the very first lesson and they move forward at a good pace. In order to handle the volume of business, Gloria hires very qualified piano teachers as staff members. She trains them to meet her high standards so there is consistency in the program. Each teacher working for Gloria is passionate about doing the best possible job for the students. In addition to being an outstanding teacher and hiring excellent staff, Gloria uses the best materials available. Her mastery of the Yamaha method is unparalleled and, combined with her talent, makes for an exceptional program. Yamaha has developed a number of courses that meet the needs of different age groups and is conscientious about ongoing review of the curriculum. Yamaha has a great understanding of the potential of children. People are often amazed at how well very young children can play the piano, and how quickly they learn, when they are trained using the Yamaha courses. Those who have not experienced group learning on the piano are in for a treat. The synergy that takes place when students are learning together is compelling and makes group lessons far superior to private lessons. This program is not the program many parents experienced when they were growing up. This is dynamic, enjoyable, and comprehensive. Parents are encouraged to sit in on lessons in order to see first-hand what is being taught and also to better help their children through the week. Cost effectiveness is always a consideration when one is making a decision about spending. I can guarantee you that investing in music education at F.A.M.E. is well worth the very reasonable cost. Group lessons are not as expensive as private and the overall quality is such that parents more than get their money's worth when they enroll their children at F.A.M.E. F.A.M.E. has been in Contra Costa County for the past 16 years and has served the community well. The school is a great asset to families who want to secure the best music education available for their children. F.A.M.E. is that place! I know--- I am still a student who is learning every day. And it is still loads of fun under the exceptional direction of Gloria Leiter! Shirley

What can I say? He is really just what I was looking for; Excited and passionate about art and teaching art. Very good at wisely asking investigative questions to narrow down the approach he will take. Lightning speed with getting back to me. And he taught the lesson on his birthday! Doesn’t get any more selfless than that!

Erin is an outstanding muralist. I have worked with her since 1994 when she first included the fine art of street painting to her large format mural work. She has been a street painter in San Rafael, CA every year since and the quality of her work is great. As founder of both the Youth in Arts Italian Street Painting Festival and Italian Street Painting Marin, I highly recommend Erin for your mural needs.

About

Art with Emily offers mixed-media and multicultural art lessons. I teach a mixed-media, multicultural art program for children or for anyone who is young at heart. I teach individual and semi-private lessons at my sunny studio in Palo Alto. Studies have shown that children under ten are not developmentally ready for academic art. Children most successfully learn the fundamentals of art through rich, exciting and challenging art projects. Throughout my life, I have found great satisfaction in helping children express their creativity. Instilling a love of art in children is my passion and my career. Here's what some of my students had to say about their art lessons with me: "Art classes are so fun! I loved every lesson." - E.B. student, grade 5 "Emily is such a talented teacher, and I really love having art lessons with her." - S.B. student, grade 3 "Thank you so much for a year of fun!" - A.M. student, grade 5 Please call and arrange a free visit to my studio, and visit my website for more details and many photos of students' work.

I am an art/craft teacher. I've worked with almost every medium from teaching first grader how to create a daffodil portrait color wheel to forging knives in New Zealand. I have a master's degree in art education and years of classroom experience working with first-twelfth graders, but often end up showing grown-ups how to replicate crafts they see in magazines. If you have an art goal for yourself or a wee one, I can tailor a lesson to suit your needs. I am also a lesson plan mentor. If you need assistance with lesson plans, I can help you master the art of integrating content and curriculum standards.

Hello there! My name is Ashlee. I am a fine artist with formal training in traditional studio art and art history. All things aesthetically pleasing and educational are my passion! When I am not writing art curriculum, I am at home in my studio painting and sculpting. I have a BFA in Traditional Art and have shown my work in galleries around the Bay Area. About

I've been drawing, sketching, painting and sculpting since I was old enough to hold a pencil. My work has been exhibited in galleries, given awards, and some years ago, I was privately mentored by an admissions officer (and successful fine artist) from the Cooper Union School of Art. But none of that really matters! Let's get together and draw, paint, or sculpt. I'll help you understand the pros, cons, and nuances of different media; how to look at your subjects as an artist; how to plan your compositions -- it all depends on what you want to learn. Let's have some fun.

We provide an art, literacy enrichment and a garden program to incarcerated youth in Santa Clara County. We are always looking for volunteers to participate in these programs, so we can expand them to more youth. Art instructors can run their own programs or assist one of our current art teachers. We suggest that they visit once before filling out the security clearance papers. Volunteers are needed for art and garden programs.
