I love the moment when my clients realize that by losing weight, many aspects of their life is better. Aside from looking better, which boosts self-esteem and is a huge advantage in itself, it is amazing to hear other ways that their lives have changed. It varies from getting rid of their type II diabetes, to being treated better by co-workers and friends, to being able to play on the floor with grand-kids without worrying about not being able to get up off the floor, to feeling a real sense of accomplishment and pride.

Amanda's support for my participation in the program was encouraging without being intrusive. She phoned me every week to find out how I was faring with the Medifast products. She suggested different ones that I might want to try. She advised me as to which ones were whey-based and which were soy-based (I do not tolerate very much in the way of soy products). She quickly picked up on my food preferences. Although brownies and chocolate chip cookies are offered on the program, these are not foods that I usually eat, so I was not interested in trying the Medifast varieties. Amanda quickly realized that the Soft Serve treats were about as close to "desert" as I was going to eat. When I went on maintenance she made sure that the foods I was adding back were largely vegetables, then small amounts of fruits and other healthy foods. The Medifast meals made it easy for me to lose the weight I wanted to lose, and Amanda's coaching gave me the encouragement and support that I needed to stick with the program.

I was quite honestly skeptical about having a meals-chosen diet, but my life had become so out of control that on May 1 I felt I had really nothing to lose, or much to lose. I've known Amanda for years but never knew her as a professional, and I was so pleased with her monitoring (gently) of my intake, my stumbles, and my outcome. She is organized and creative about food choices, ways she herself found the program helpful, and thoughts that could be motivating when stumbles do occur. I'm grateful for her constancy, especially during the difficult first two weeks when it would have been easy to fall backwards. I'm still using protein drinks for breakfasts thanks to the program. Although I've slip-slided a bit, I lost a total of 30 lbs. on the program.

Amanda explain the program in a very nice way that made me feel comfortable and not intimidated by my weight. She also helped me with ideas for meals ie. sloppy joes lettuce wraps, one of my favorites. I have lost 20 pound and feel great! Thank you Amanda!

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

    Go Slim U offers a 12-week transformation program that takes place on-line and over the phone. There is a set fee for this program

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

    I have taken two Health Coach training programs, one at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, and the other at The MacDonald Center for Obesity Prevention and Education (C.O.P.E.) at the Villanova University College of Nursing.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

    When I realized that not everyone had learned about nutrition at home, like I did from my mother, and seeing what many people eat on a regular basis without realizing the harm they are doing to their bodies, I had to share my knowledge and help people take care of themselves.
