I have rented from Cal-Prop for over 5 years but lived in my place for over 15 years. In March/April of this year 2020, during the pandemic, they decided to up our rent to "current market value". I called the office and got no response. The story made the CBS news. It was not until after the story aired that they answered the phone. They said it was a "mistake" and would not be upping the rent. They are ONLY about the money.We have a washer and dryer in the unit. Instead of fixing it when it was broken, they sent us a letter saying they no longer maintain the washer dryer and dish washer. If they cease to operate they will haul them away. Gee thanks Cow Poop for taking away 2 of the best appliances in this place.The carpet is over 20 years old. I asked if they would at least split the cost and I got a hard NO. I think its inhuman to ask us to pay what we pay and live in a dirty run down apartment.In 2019 they raised the rent 3 times. They were trying to price gouge before the rent control went into effect. What they were doing was illegal so the last rent hike was canceled. Although we did not get a refund for what we already paid. They SUCK. Stay away!

Before moving in to Ocean Beach I had not worked with Cal-Prop before. I moved down to the San Diego area back in September of 2019. I was warned about Cal-Prop going into my lease.Upon trying to move down here I was working with Mario. He was very accommodating to our needs and very responsive especially when trying to move from out of state.Since I have been living here, with the workload Mario manages, he has been very responsive on any repairs that are needed and has worked with me to improve the property. He always checks in post repair to make sure it all went well. I appreciate everything that Mario does and moving from Seattle he is one of the best Property Managers I have ever worked with and I am very thankful to have him managing the property I lease.

I just moved out of a Cal-Prop managed apartment after about 5+ years. Overall, I am very happy with the service I received. Words of advice, if you have a maintenance request, make sure to put it in their system rather than just getting a verbal from someone visiting the property. My move out was a good experience, made sure that everything was clean and had a walk-out appointment to confirm everything was in order. No surprise charges and received my refundable deposit in less than 21 days. Thank you!
