Introduction: Greetings! I would be more than happy to work with you regarding music lessons! I’m very fortunate to teach music for a living, and I love my job. As a music teacher, I get to go to work with children and adults, and show you how to express yourself through music. My approach is very patient with all of my students, and I always encourage you to learn and to play at your very best. Studying music here will only brighten your knowledge and understanding of this wonderful source of sound that we call music! At my studio you will rekindle or find for the very first time a love for learning, playing, and rehearing music on either the piano or the drums! Teaching piano I focus on harmony and melodic approaches while taking things slowly. A thorough introduction to the keyboard is used including: note recognition, ear training, interval studies, basic music theory, harmony introductions, phrasing, etc. As always, music is meant to be enjoyed at any level! Teaching drums, a unique approach to my teaching is that I use 2 drum sets in my studio. I learned to play this way, by playing along WITH my teacher, and getting down his/her feel, groove, and timing. I have found this method is extremely effective and increases learning rates exponentially! I'm an intermediate level drummer who was seeking lessons to help bring my playing to the next level and I found Brian Fruechtenicht here on thumbtack. I have to say, having taken drum lessons before that this experience has been unlike any other. Brian's novel approach may seem unorthodox if you come into lessons with any preconceived notion of what drum lessons should be like, however his unique take on them (not to mention his enthusiasm) really conveys a lot of the practical knowledge that helps change good drummers into great drummers. In my own drumming, I feel like my style had become rote, but Brian helped me find more creativity behind the kit. I play for a band and I have to say even that sounds leagues better since beginning lessons with Brian Fruechtenicht, and those lessons tend to be some of the most fun I have all week. Brian Fruechtenicht gets a high recommendation from me!

I was skeptical of Brian's teaching style in the beginning, but now, I am so extremely thankful for it. He taught me to feel the rhythm and music, and as such, to be able to create beats and rhythms by myself. This was so much more valuable than learning techniques/skills by rote, and felt like a good foundation for learning the drums. Brian and I always had chats about a range of things, and that, along with his funny side just made the lessons more enjoyable.

I took lessons from Brian for almost two years. When I started, I was just getting back to drumming after years of break and trying to pick it up before I signed up for a band in Blue Bear School of Music. What I loved about Brian's teaching style is that his emphasis on improvisation and feeling what sounds good versus bad. At lessons played a variety of rhythms in our heads to get started followed by playing the songs that we pick. I love his way of teaching feeling. Moreover, also, he is super fun and friendly to talk to, and every week the lessons with him were my excellent therapy to boost my mood. Highly recommend to anyone who wants to build a solid foundation to their drumming.
