Hayley Ferreira is a sensitive, elegant artist whose work respects her client’s vision while demonstrating the full breadth of her experience, skill and knowledge. The murals she creates can make an ordinary house exceptional. My house in San Francisco has an upstairs bedroom that covers the entire top floor. It has cathedral walls and I wanted to decorate one with an ancient Roman fresco from the Pompeii area, the “Primavera di Stabiae.” I contacted Hayley Ferreira of Ferreira Designs through the Website Find-a-Muralist, after reviewing some of her work online. Hayley was wonderful! She came out to my home and looked over the space, which climbed to 12 feet at its peak, as well as at my printouts of the fresco image. She took pictures and measurements, and listened carefully to my description of how I envisioned the fresco would be transferred to the wall, allowing for the proper scaling, the necessity of extending the original across a much wider horizontal axis, and the adjustments around my closet doors and fixtures. She explained various materials and options for painting, and recommended a limestone paint that would capture the antique feel of the original fresco. We discussed costs and she was up-front and candid about what could be done with my budget. Hayley was also very accommodating on the timeframe. I had a lot of apprehension about the job, since I’ve never had a mural painted before, but she made the process very easy. Overall, she was a pleasure to work with and completely professional. The actual painting took about 4-5 days, with Hayley and her assistant coming to my house while I was at work. The intrusion on my space was minimal and my cats were always calm when I got home. The result is fabulous! The finished fresco is dramatic, vivid and perfectly appropriate to the space and my house. I am so happy with my mural, which glows with color and transforms my bedroom into a unique private garden. Hayley’s skill is such that she was able to capture the cracking and fading of the original fresco, which was something I especially wanted. I also asked Hayley to paint my dresser to echo the fresco. It’s now a charming companion piece to the fresco, featuring “antiqued” garlands on the drawers. Working with Hayley was a terrific experience! I highly recommend her.

John did an outstanding job on a mural for our non profit. He captured exactly what I had in mind. His attention to detail captured the essence of 1878 exactly. The job was a daunting one considering the size but with his positive attitude he hit a home run. The mural of the Williams Hotel back in the day is the talk of the town and the county with people from all over the world stopping and photographing it. I can't say enough about his work. EXCELLENT!

I hired Suzi to paint a mural of a English Garden on the outside wall of my house by the pool. She painted the most beautiful mural for me, it still looks great after more than 10 years! She is such a great honest, competent artist. We have a number of parties and we are always asked to share her business card. I highly recommend her as she does excellent, beautiful work like no other I have ever seen. We have been so happy.

Caitlin is a local artist of the San Francisco Bay Area. She specializes in acrylic and oil mediums, but also works with watercolor, collage, and mixed media. She also makes hand-made craft items that are inspired from her paintings and images seen from her life. She has been painting for over 10 years, both professionally, and as a hobby for family and friends. I recently graduated from UC Santa Cruz in 2010, with a bachelor degree in the history of art and visual culture. Art has always been a huge part of my life; ever since I can remember, I have been creating something. I have taken many art classes throughout high school and college, ranging from drawing, oil, acrylic, sculpture, and graphic design. I am currently self-employed as a freelance artist, doing paintings, drawings, and wall murals inside homes. Along with painting, I also make hand-made crafts, and do scrapbooking. About

What I do are the following: * Entertainment Services -- face painting, henna, balloons, and glitter tattoos * Art Lessons * Murals (including tile, sectioned, faux, trompe l'oeil, and impasto) * Portraits (people and pets) * Carvings * Book Illustrations Entertainment Services -- I am a face painter who uses plenty of glitter and jewels, has several books of designs, does beautiful hipster henna that's glittered, and can twist simple balloons into flowers, animals, swords, hats, etc. (Note: I do not specialize in balloons. My balloons are simple happy things, not the intricate things that an artist specializing in balloons does. Mine are good but not spectacular). Art Lessons -- My youngest student is 3.5, and my oldest is 94. I teach all things art -- painting, drawing, technical drawing, portraiture, etching, sculpture, carving, and cake decorating; if I know it and you want to learn it, I'll figure out how to teach what I know. I have a limited space available because my students don't like to leave. Most of my kids, I've had them for at least 3 years; so call if you're interested, and we'll find a spot for a private or group lesson somewhere. Portraits -- Portraits are a personal thing. We can change, add, subtract, combine several pictures together, change your hair color, give everyone a diet, and paint a phantom image of someone loved but passed on. Be it large or small, painted or drawn, rough or photo-realistic, they can be done in almost any medium. Murals -- Murals can brighten and create a mood in any space, small or large. A spot mural can be done for as little as $100.00 or a full mural for as much as several thousand dollars. I do faux finishes, marble, brick, steel beams, broken plaster to reveal the bricks beneath, and wood. Just tell me what you want. I've got great references and plenty of experiences. So, just give me a call to discuss your ideas. Illustrations -- These are something that I've done a handful of, but I love doing them. You can see my renderings on my website. Egg Carvings -- A carved emu or ostrich egg is an amazing gift. It can be carved in any pattern you like or left whole and painted.

About

As an alternative to toxic paint, try the lime-based paint (lime wash) by San Francisco Decors. For 20 years, we have painted exclusively with natural lime (powdered limestone) and natural pigments (earth colors). Why? Because we are always concerned about the environment, pollution and health; the lime paint (lime wash) is the oldest, healthiest and most beautiful kind of paint. What are the benefits of these old world techniques? * Health — it is natural and non-toxic * No fungus — lime paint lets walls breathe * No smell and no fumes * Colors are custom made and the color palette is unlimited.Lime wash is not available as a commercial product. * Durability — examples are the 6000-year-old frescoes in the pyramids and more recently the 500-year-old fresco in the Sistine chapel * Beauty — because of the depth and transparency resulting from multiple layers (2-3 coats) We successfully completed more than a hundred projects and would happily provide references. We are specializing in the following: * Interior/exterior lime wash paint * Venetian plaster (marble dust, plaster and natural pigment) * Kitchen and bathroom cabinetry finishes * Fresco, frieze, mural and tromp-l'oeil For contractors, interior designers, architects, and homeowners who want to satisfy the growing demand of lime wash, we are available to teach, manage and help on the job site. We are certified from the school of San Servolo, Venice, Italy. If you are just interested in learning more about lime wash, please e-mail us your questions; we are passionate about our job, and we will be happy to answer them. Embellish and customize your home with these old world techniques. We offer free estimate.
