I felt very at ease with Jay. He made me feel very comfortable and understood exactly what I wanted to work on. I strongly recommend him to anyone looking for a therapist.Jul 8, 2018
I've known Jay for about 6 years and highly recommend him if you're looking for a therapist. He's genuine, insightful, and always asks just the right questions to get to the heart of things. He's able to make you feel he's on your side, even while challenging you to push your limits and think outside your comfort zone.Feb 6, 2018
Jay is very committed to what he does. As a former colleague of Jay's, I found him to be extremely perceptive and open to talk to. He brings humour to the conversation; whilst still staying on the message and will challenge you to think about new ways to better your life. I would highly recommend him to anyone seeking a therapist or going through a rough patch.Feb 6, 2018
I've known Jay for three years and have found him to be incredibly easy to talk to. He really helps people come to believe in themselves. He listens very carefully and challenges clients' beliefs that don't work for them, while advocating for new ways of thinking and acting that help them live the lives they want. I highly recommend him to anyone seeking a therapist.Feb 6, 2018
In meeting with Jay I felt instantly at ease. He is kind, open and easy to talk with. I felt heard and understood by him. As a therapist, his strengths include working with people to heal past trauma and establish fulfilling relationships in the present. He's really knowledgeable about the field, while being humble and approachable. I'm glad I connected with him and I'd recommend him to anyone looking for a skilled and kind therapist.Feb 7, 2018
License Type: Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (CA)
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? My fee reflects the typical rate for therapy in San Francisco. I do not belong to any insurance panels but can provide a detailed bill for clients to seek reimbursement via out-of-network coverage.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? With each new client I customize treatment to meet your specific goals. To start, we have a 15-minute phone consultation so that I can get a sense of what you would like to address. Next, I ask you to complete a brief assessment so that I can hit the ground running in our first session. At the first session, you will tell me something about what brings you to therapy and I will be trying to understand: 1) What have you come to therapy to accomplish? 2) What conscious and unconscious beliefs might be standing in your way? 3) What past/current experiences might have led to these beliefs? 4) How can we work together so that you can disconfirm your beliefs from step 2? That's a lot of information about how the sausage is made. Suffice it to say, that you should have the experience of feeling understood and supported in living the way you most want.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?University of Pennsylvania 1999 – B.A. Psychology, Magna Cum Laude Pennsylvania State University 2004 – M.S. Clinical Psychology
