With the help of Rebecca's expertise, I was accepted to medical school and to be completely honest I could not have done it without her! I wanted to thank her so much for helping me throughout this long process (almost one year)! She truly made me the best applicant I could be from writing a new personal statement and editing my entire application along with CV, to writing and editing over 100 secondary application and even helping prepare a stellar personal statement for a prestige summer research position at Harvard! Words can not express how thankful I am to have had Rebecca as my personal professional writer. I really could not have done it without her. I wanted to thank her for being so patient with me and always ready to give me a pep talk and making me believe that this was all possible. I wanted to tell you all this over the phone, but I would have gotten too emotional and started crying because of how amazing she is and how she played such an integral role in helping me achieve my dream(s). So instead I am crying tears of appreciation and joy while I write this review. Thank you Rebecca! :)

My company hired Koppelman & Associates for a corporate event video. We were looking for professionalism and reliability, and Koppelman & Associates did not dissapoint. Our event took more time than anticipated, and the final video required detailed editing. Koppelman & Associates’s service throughout the process was thorough, and resulted in a great video at a very reasonable price. We will definitely use his service again.

Textrous was responsive and even checking in with me more than I checked in with her. She gave great comments and formatting tips. I was very thankful to have Textrous editing my thesis (APA format) through my own stress.

I had been procrastinating for quite some time about hiring a web designer, but was so glad to be matched up with J-357 through thumbtack! From our first conversation, I knew that her great personality was going to be the perfect fit. She was extremely easy to work with, and provided exceptional communication. Being that we live on opposite coasts, I truly appreciated her quick communication and adaptability. She really went above and beyond to work with me across time zones, and was extremely flexible with my schedule. But it didn't stop there...the website that she designed for me is absolutely amazing; it is truly everything I envisioned and more! J-357 provided a training session once the website was complete. She is great to work with if you are not tech savvy, and explains the details in clear and simplified terms. She is extremely patient, takes into consideration your suggestions, and is extremely quick with the edits. Compared to other web designers that I researched, her pricing is extremely reasonable. J-357 provided an awesome service all around. I would recommend this web designer to anyone who is looking for a high quality, professional or personal website. Thanks J-357!

Anish is hands down the best tutor in this area! I needed someone to tutor me for the GRE and he was exceptional. His teaching style and experience is exactly what you need to score high on the exam. Additionally, he offered to edit my personal statements for graduate schools. His feedback was amazing and he responds in a timely manner. Due to his help, I was able to write the perfect statement and score in the 90th percentile. I am going to attend my dream graduate program in the fall and I have a lot to thank him for. I am forever grateful for this tutor and his dedication to help people!

Evelyn didn’t just write my resume. She helped me understand what someone reading my resume who didn’t know me would want to see, and what wasn’t necessary to put in. She got me to rethink how I viewed myself and my contributions at work. I am also glad I went with someone local rather than some big resume place because it was more personal and she took the time to get to know me as a person, even though we did everything online and on the phone. I got the job, and the person interviewing me even complemented me on my resume. I’ve recommended her to others and will continue to do so

Olga helped my team to write, edit and finalize a great online schedule, and an orientation program for our International students program. Her attention to detail, ways of phrasing and insightful ideas and corrections were right on. It gave us clear, useful and non-confusing materials to send to our students. Thank you, Olga!

Jeffrey provided editing services to our biopharmaceutical company assisting with position profiles and our recruiting/sourcing process. He adeptly edited both marketing and technical writing, thereby greatly enhancing our profile and appeal to new and critical talent. His writing and editing skills are second to none as is his turnaround on time sensitive material. He provided precisely what we did not have the time to complete. Thank you Jeffrey.

About

Welcome to my content driven world...an exploration into the vastness of good content. Each time I write, be it for myself, for another company or when it comes to curating a simple message, I try to push the limit of what the words can do. I like to refer to myself as a contentpreneur because I love to find never before used word combinations that have the potential of being the next viral catch phrase. It's what makes me excited to work with content in any capacity. When it comes to writing about a new topic, I go at it head on. There is no territory I fear to tread on when it comes to writing. I feel confident that I can write creatively, intelligently and simply about any topic or subject. I came across a quote recently that read, "The things you are passionate about are not random. They are your calling." Content, writing and copy editing, I strongly believe, are my calling. I am out to make an editorial difference.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you hire a good grant writer?

Grants are available to nonprofit organizations, for-profit businesses that qualify for government grants, and individuals who qualify for foundation or government grants. Hiring a good grant writer can help you gain funding in your chosen field. According to the American Grant Writers’ Association, grant writers can help you research potential grant opportunities; write grant proposals, create budgets, and build budget narratives; review written materials before you submit; prepare a business plan; analyze your organization for grant competitive qualities; prepare research grants; help with 501(c)(3) applications for nonprofits; and more. Investing in the right grant writer could result in a financial win for your organization. Generally no licenses or certificates are required to be a good grant writer, but you may want to find a grant writer who has been certified (not just received a certificate of completion) by a reputable organization such as the Grant Professionals Certification Institute. Qualities to look for in a good grant writer include:

  • Proven success writing winning grants, especially in your target area.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Strong math skills and demonstrated proficiency with budgeting.
  • Careful attention to detail — brilliant grant proposals may be rejected just for formatting errors, so you want someone who follows instructions explicitly.
  • Expertise in your target area.
  • Punctuality and good communication skills.

How much does a grant writer cost?

Hiring a grant writer can give you a competitive edge when applying for financial grants for your business or nonprofit organization, or as an individual. The cost to hire a grant writer can vary depending on their academic background, areas of expertise, previous grant writing success and years of experience. According to the Grant Professionals Association, grant writers should be paid hourly or by flat fee. It is unethical for a grant writer to accept a commission or percentage compensation of grant monies received. They can, however, be awarded bonuses in line with the hiring company’s prevailing practices. Here are some examples of average grant writing fees:

  • Hourly rate for grant writers with less experience or fewer grants awarded: $25-$35 per hour.
  • Hourly rate for grant writers with some degree of success: $35-$75 per hour.
  • Hourly rate for grant writers with proven success winning large grants: $75-$150 or more per hour.
  • For a smaller grant, the writer may charge a flat fee of $200-$500 for preparation and submission.

Pricing may also vary based on the complexity of the grant application. A federal grant that requires pages of research, budgets and a business plan may take more than 30 hours to prepare. For a high-level grant writer who charges $100 per hour, this means $3,000 or more in grant writing fees.

Most grant writers will provide you with a total cost estimate before agreeing to the work. You may be required to pay a deposit up front, or the grant writer may work from a retainer. Often, seasoned grant writers pay for themselves in the long run by writing successful grants.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
