- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
1.) Do your research! Not all makeup artists are licensed, but that doesn't mean they are less talented than those that are. An artist's experience and portfolio speaks for itself. 2.) Make sure contracts are involved. This is beneficial to the client and the artist. Make sure all fees and services are understood so that there are no surprises along the way. If the artist does not offer a clear contract of EXACTLY how much they arecharging and what services they will be providing, then be cautious. 3.) Sometimes clients have a difficult time describing the look they want to achieve. Sometimes words are lost in translation, or their idea of what something is differs from a makeup artist (i.e the difference between frost, shimmer and glitter). Pictures of similar looks are always helpful as are celebrities to compare them to.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
Going to cosmetology school doesn't make you a better artist. In fact, they only teach basic application. Makeup artistry schools are different. They teach technique and different genres of makeup.
