Introduction: I study all subversive makeup styles such as gothic, punk, cyber and cosplay. I also love everything about my Asian culture so I'm always looking at Asian fashion magazines, researching Japanese and Korean cosmetics and practice standard Asian beauty makeup application. I make my own luxury bath products like soaps, salts, and candles. Since I have worked for several cosmetic companies, (including the top 3 in the world) I have extensive knowledge of many major cosmetic lines as well as how to practice do-it-yourself natural skin care. Making people feel good about themselves.

I worked with Marissa on a runway show recently in Raleigh, NC. Not only was she extremely efficient, but her final product was incredible. If I could, I would book her every time I need a makeup artist. She has the ability to do subtle and soft makeup as well as extremely avant-garde. She was a pleasure to work with and I hope to work with here in the near future.

I am a local High School Senior photographer here in Raleigh, NC. Marissa has been one of my go-to make up artists for the past two years. She is phenomenal. My clients, being 18 years old and out of their element are usually very nervous for makeup styling and the photo shoot in general. Marissa does an excellent job easing their nerves and making them look stunning and confident for their portraits. She has great attention to detail and always gives the client the exact look that they were going for. From natural makeup for weddings or high school seniors to out of the box unique styling for photo shoots or runway, Marissa can do it all!

I have had the pleasure to work with Marissa many times. She is one of the best MUA's I have had the pleasure to work with. She is timely, professional, and has not just the skills to be at the top of her profession but has the artistic talent to be one of the best. I highly recommend Marissa!!

This is almost a year late but Marissa did the makeup for my wedding in September 2013. She did the makeup for my two teenage daughters and myself. We were absolutely beautiful and stunning! I hope she has photos. She is great to work with and very professional. She does great work with ethnic faces! Hire her!

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

    Runway, photo shoots, and weddings

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

1.) Do your research! Not all makeup artists are licensed, but that doesn't mean they are less talented than those that are. An artist's experience and portfolio speaks for itself. 2.) Make sure contracts are involved. This is beneficial to the client and the artist. Make sure all fees and services are understood so that there are no surprises along the way. If the artist does not offer a clear contract of EXACTLY how much they arecharging and what services they will be providing, then be cautious. 3.) Sometimes clients have a difficult time describing the look they want to achieve. Sometimes words are lost in translation, or their idea of what something is differs from a makeup artist (i.e the difference between frost, shimmer and glitter). Pictures of similar looks are always helpful as are celebrities to compare them to.

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Going to cosmetology school doesn't make you a better artist. In fact, they only teach basic application. Makeup artistry schools are different. They teach technique and different genres of makeup.
