FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We discuss with you what your musical goals are. Is there a particular style of music you are interested in? Are there particular pieces that you want to play? Are you trying to improve a certain aspect of your playing? Once we have discussed that with you and shown you other possible interests we design a curriculum specifically for you to help you improve. Each lesson is designed for the individual student.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a bachelor degree and master degree in piano performance and I am a member of Music Teachers' Association of California (MTAC), and Music Teachers National Association (MTNA). Both of these organizations have music magazines, yearly conventions, meetings, opportunities for our students, and other furthering education opportunities for teachers.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have always loved music. As a child I wanted to play the piano. I also learned the flute, and as a young adult the organ. When I was in high school I had an incredible private piano teacher and was also surrounded by great music teachers in my school. There was no doubt that I wanted to become a musician because I wanted my work, something that would be taking up many hours of my life, to also be something I enjoy and care about. I've never regretted this decision. I feel fortunate to fill my day with what I love doing. I also enjoy how diverse it is being a musician. I can teach, perform, collaborate with many people, and there's no end to what you can learn on your instrument. I absolutely love teaching and helping others create music.
