With a Master of Arts degree in music specializing in jazz studies from SJSU and decades of teaching experience, I focus on building a solid musical foundation. My students learn general musicianship and note and/ or tablature, and rhythm reading, along with the core fundamentals of the instrument. I also encourage students to listen widely and choose songs they’re excited about. When you’re learning music you love, practice feels inspiring, not like a chore. From the very first lesson I could tell that Sedat possesses an exceptional level of guitar playing and teaching knowledge. He is not only a skilled musician but also an effective communicator. Mark is an excellent guitar teacher. He not only teaches practicing guitar skills, but also talks about the theory behind the music and guitar, which makes it easy for me to understand what I'm doing, and really intrigues my interests towards guitar. The lesson environment is great. It is in Mark's studio where there are keyboard, drums, and a big screen around, which makes me feel really nice.

Great teacher! I had never picked up a guitar before my first lesson with Ahmad, and now I can't put it down! His lessons are a perfect blend of fundamentals, theory (not too much ;) ) and putting it to use in songs. Everything builds on what you have been learning. He challenges you but keeps it fun and knows when you need to work more on things and when to move on. I'd give him ten stars if I could!

I'm a 59 year old beginner student of Ahmad's for a little more than a year and half and have really enjoyed relearning a new instrument with Ahmad as my teacher. I've always wanted to learn how to play guitar since I first heard Rock and Roll in high school, but always thought my short fingers would hold me back. Ahmad has helped build my confidence in playing the guitar and I feel like I am really progressing as a guitar player. I am able to play some simple songs, jam along with a backing track and have progressed to where I am picking up new techniques much quicker. He is teaching me how to play those guitar techniques that produce sounds that look really difficult but are actually much more manageable that I ever thought. He is helping me debunk the mystery behind this great instrument! Credit to his teaching skills. He is very punctual and has been extremely flexible with me when scheduling my sessions due to my constantly changing work schedule and that I live almost 50 miles away. I have thought about finding a closer instructor to home but I really enjoy his lessons. He is very patient with me, as my old fingers don't always want to do what the music says to do! I am actually practicing more now than in the beginning due to the fact that I am more accomplished and can execute more musical techniques and have much more fun playing the guitar. Ahmad is also teaching me musical theory, which I am not very good at but getting better with his help, and learning other interesting musical facts about the guitar and music, in general. We also have some really interesting conversations about life and how to be a happier person, which makes his lessons more than just an instructional session but a fun musical adventure that I look forward to each week. I highly recommend Ahmad to any level student, as I think he has much more to offer to each student than just guitar lessons, as I have found! You may not see me playing in a stadium or on a stage, in the future, but being able to just play a song on the guitar for my envious friends and family, has been a life's dream come true! Thank you so very much for making that happen, Ahmad!

Ben is an excellent guitar instructor. He has tons of knowledge and is very patient and tailors the lessons according to the student's needs. I have been taking classes with Ben for close to two months now. I am seeing some significant improvements in my playing and I feel more confident in taking on challenging pieces of music. Let me start out by saying that I am a beginner. Sedat was very quick to respond and set up a time for my first lesson. Sedat has a very easy going demeanor that makes being a newbie like myself so much easier. Sedat is a fantastic player with years of experience and a good teaching approach. I had learned a few cords on my own prior to my first lesson so Sedat expanded upon that and integrated a curriculum for me to practice until we meet again. He was very attentive and addressed my concerns with my fingers and lack of flexibility. All newbie problems of course. I feel lucky to have found Sedat and hope to continue progression forward in my guitar journey with his guidance.
