FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My hourly fee ranges from $69.00 for standard Swedish massage to $89.00 for advanced bodywork. When a client requests that I come to them in a hospital, care facility, or their home, I charge an additional fee that covers travel and set up time. I offer several discounts, such as my client loyalty discount. After six massage sessions your seventh session is free, which amounts to about a 15% discount. Please visit my website for details of all discounts. I also work on a sliding scale. If you are truly in need but do not have the budget, I am happy to accommodate youjust give me a call.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I take continuing education courses on a regular basis, typically about 100 hours each year. Though I am not a nurse, I joined the Oncology Nursing Society so I could partake of their excellent oncology courses. I also learn new bodywork modalities so that I can integrate new techniques into my work and offer my clients the most professional service.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Four years ago I was a new hospice volunteer making companion visits to patients in their homes. I wanted to do more for them than simply talking or reading to them, so I took up massage training. After completing my initial training I began giving massage to patients and their family caregiverstypically the spouse. The joy of doing that work led me to seek more massage training and now I am a full time massage therapist. Because of my hospice experience I undertook training in clinical massage and now work as a member of Stanford Hospital's Inpatient Massage Team.
