Hey there! My name is Sarah and I'm a professional writer, editor, and writing instructor/tutor accepting new clients. I pride myself on offering personalized, focused instruction and coaching to each and every student, helping them refine their critical thinking skills while encouraging them to express their ideas in dynamic, compelling ways. I take great joy in helping students realize their full potential using creativity as well as strong communication and interpersonal skills that help me to foster strong bonds with students and their families. I guarantee that I will create a quality experience with clear improvement in grades and/or work. It is also my mission to cultivate a lasting, meaningful love of learning in each and every student. In addition to my professional career as a writer and tutor, I am also a Columbia University graduate student. I have 3 years experience working with middle school to college age students who are seeking assistance with Academic/Creative Writing, College Application Essays, English, Spanish, Language Arts, History, and Social Studies/Social Science.See more

I have an undergrad degree, with honors, from the top journalism school in the country. I worked 20 years full-time in the field, and now work part-time as an editor or writer and also do work as a clergy member. My main areas of editing expertise became technical health and medical writing and editing (I currently am a contract worker for Merck, for example) -- but I've also worked for Vanguard, the financial services company, several daily newspapers, multiple nonprofits in the religion and eco-preservation worlds, and for one fantastic year, as the managing editor of a tribal newspaper in Oklahoma! I have lived and studied extensively abroad, mostly in Mexico, Israel, and Germany. I began teaching ESL (English to non-native speakers) while living in Germany at age 19 for German businessmen, and then continued this work all through college with foreign students on campus and then afterward. I've also taught elementary Hebrew language to children and adults on and off for 20 years in Colorado and Philadelphia at various synagogues. Between my decades of teaching people of all ages how to speak a foreign language as well as my native English language -- coupled with my years of personal study of Spanish, German, and Hebrew -- I feel I am exceptionally qualified to teach ESL. Having travelled to over 35 countries as an adult, I have a genuine love for meeting and working with people from other countries and cultures. In fact, teaching ESL is one of my favorite things to do (second only perhaps to officiating weddings -- getting to commit two people in marriage IS a pretty awesome thing to do :) !)See more
