Emily did my makeup and hair for my 2011 wedding and I was not only very happy about the way I looked, but also how she made me feel. First off, she listened when I told her I wanted to have a very natural look that would last throughout the night. As importantly, if not more so, she helped soothe my pre-ceremony jitters by keeping our preparation area calm and not letting everyone barge in to say hello as we were trying to get ready. Doing so required a very diplomatic yet firm touch and she pulled it off with grace. I'd happily hire Emily for any/all other high-profile events that I do (I am frequently on TV as a news commentator) were she located on the East Coast. I hope people in California take advantage of her skills -- I am sure they will be thrilled.

Emily did my wedding hair and makeup, and it was so perfect! She gave me this really intricate updo that held up in the wind and made my makeup exactly how I wanted it. She went above and beyond expectations. I was a little nervous about everything going smoothly in general at my wedding, and Emily listened to my worries and made me feel at ease. It was like having my sister do my hair and makeup! We chatted while she worked and she helped me feel calm and happy. She is friendly, professional, talented, and very kind. I've been trying to think of reasons to throw a big party so I can have her do my hair and makeup again!

Last month Emily did my hair and makeup for my tenth anniversary and I was thrilled with how it turned out! I'm the mother of two young children so it's quite a challenge to make me look good these days but she succeeded! Before the day of my event we communicate often about the look I wanted and she took time to send pictures back & forth with me. How did you get started doing this type of work?
After years of doing hair and makeup only on weekends as a part-time job, I decided to quit the corporate rat race and work for myself, doing what I love most: hair and makeup. So, I started SB Hair and Makeup because I love making people feel beautiful. It's the most rewarding feeling for me to make someone look and feel their very best.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Go with someone who not only has a lot of experience, but someone who is all about you, and listens to what you want. I always tell my clients that they are the ones who have to wear the look I'm giving them, so I want them to get exactly the look they want. Also, integrity is everything in this business, so go with someone you feel like you can trust, who has a great reputation.
