Rodent and Animal Removal

Great value
Offers remote services

Albert L. says, "Eilon and his team were professional, prompt and courteous. We live in a 6 bedroom house with an attic that is about 1,500 sq ft in size. Our attic had been infested with rodents for about 10 years. The team started the job at 8am and finished everything by 3ish pm. The team removed all insulation, dead rats (about 6-7 of them) and countless droppings. The lead project manager Rene has 6 years of experience in this job, and very knowledgeable about rodents. He found the "secret" holes where rodents entered into our attic. He patched up all openings with metal mesh and some special orange sealant. The discovery of the secret entries and the carcasses was critical: We had been struggling with rodents in the attic and occasional dead rat smell (and subsequent blow flies infestation) for years. We were not able to find the root causes previously because the original insulation had concealed them in the attic. Therefore, in hindsight, we should have done this years ago, The team also disinfect our attic, vacuumed all our air ducts and install new R44 blown-in fiberglass insulation. The team even helped us with some minor rodent proofing on the ground level. We originally had booked a large corporate company to do the work. After some fortuitous events, we got in touch with Eilon. Eilon was able to offer us the same service but at 60% of the large company price. We then realized that large company would find a subcontractor like Eilon's company to do the actual work while they would keep the margin. So in essence, we were lucky that we were able to cut out the middleman and saved thousands in cost. There are too many contractors out there who would say anything in order to squeeze every penny out of you. Eilon is not one of them. He is an ethical person and would give you the honest recommendation."See more

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What’s the best way to set up a consultation or an appointment with an exterminator during the COVID-19 pandemic?

Ask exterminators in your area if they would be willing to offer a consultation over a phone call or video chat. You can then ask them any questions you have about the upcoming appointment. Make sure to ask what precautions they are taking to keep everyone safe during the COVID-19 pandemic and whether they are observing social distancing guidelines. You may ask them if it's possible to conduct the appointment virtually or without person-to-person contact.

How can I find out if an exterminator is considered an essential COVID-19 service provider?

Essential service providers during the COVID-19 crisis are defined by individual states, cities and localities. For the most accurate information, visit your official state or city government website to see what is considered an essential service.

CISA is the government agency that defines critical workers on a national level, so you can check its website for more information. However, note that not all jurisdictions follow CISA’s definitions of critical infrastructure.

Can I use digital payments to pay for pest control services?

You may be able to use digital payments such as Venmo, Apple Pay, PayPal, Venmo, Square Cash or Zelle to pay for extermination services. Many businesses accept methods of payment besides cash and credit cards. Check with pest control services in your area to see if they have changed their payment methods as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Are there ways to be safe if I hire an exterminator when social distancing?

If you need pest extermination services inside your home, talk to the exterminator first to be sure that you both feel comfortable completing the project. Also, follow the CDC’s guidelines on social distancing. You can also arrange with the exterminator to take extra steps to stay safe, such as waving instead of shaking hands, staying at least 6 feet apart, using digital payments and sanitizing any common spaces before and after the project is complete.

Do exterminators offer remote or virtual services?

Typically, extermination takes place at your home or place of business, but you can ask if the business is offering special accommodations due to the COVID-19 pandemic. If you come across a profile that states the exterminator is offering remote services, ask what those services include. But if the job has to be done in person, be sure to follow the CDC’s guidelines on social distancing or see if you can postpone your appointment.

Does an exterminator need to enter my home?

If you have an outdoor pest infestation, it’s unlikely an exterminator will need to enter your home. But if your pest infestation is inside your home, the exterminator will likely need to enter your home. Check with the exterminator beforehand to explain the extent of the problem, the layout of your house and see if they can complete the job outdoors. You can also ask the exterminator to video chat or set up a phone call to exchange as much information as possible before you begin the project.

Do I need to leave the house for pest control?

It depends on the type of pest control service you require. Your exterminator can often tell you beforehand which products they’ll be using and where they’ll be applying it.

If the pest control company will be applying toxic chemicals, limit your exposure, according to the National Pesticide Information Center. For example, consider leaving your house during application and ventilate your home thoroughly when you return. And always keep your pets and their supplies away from the applied pesticides.

How do you get rid of ants?

The best way to get rid of ants is to hire an ant exterminator near you. The exterminator can also help you find the source of the problem that’s drawing ants into your home.

After they’re done treating your home, you can invest in ant baits to keep infestations at bay. It’s also important to take preventative steps to avoid ants.

For example, always clean up crumbs and wipe down surfaces to eliminate potential food sources. Regularly take out the trash, fix leaky pipes, store your food in sealed containers and seal cracks near your kitchen cabinets.

Here are more tips on how to get rid of ants (for good).

Is monthly pest control necessary?

Monthly pest control service is only necessary for certain situations. For example, severe ant or cockroach infestations may require monthly pest control in order to destroy the infestations at the source.

How much does it cost to kill bed bugs?

The cost of bed bug extermination depends primarily on how widespread the pest infestation is and how many rooms need to be treated. Other factors that can affect bed bug extermination costs are the amount of clutter in the location, additional furniture that needs to be treated, and construction of the home. Pest management professionals often have rates for room treatments, which can vary based on these factors. As an example, a pest management company treating a 10-by-15-foot room with light infestation might charge clients about $250, while the same size room with a heavy infestation and large amounts of clutter might cost the clients $300-$400. Clutter and heavier bed bug populations mean more product and longer labor time for the workers. Rates will vary from company to company, and from region to region, but the national average bed bug extermination cost is $320-$400. Bed bug heat treatments are an alternative way to exterminate these pests. Heat treatments are typically charged per square foot and tend to cost more than chemical or non-chemical spray solutions. Although effective, they are not usually recommended for occupied spaces, as the extreme temperatures can damage televisions, window dressings and other home furnishings.
