Griffith is such a fun teacher. He adapts to your needs and abilities without ever making you feel inadequate or stupid. With my infinitesimal music knowledge, Griffith sprinkles in music lessons between vocal warm ups. It's interesting to learn and see videos of how the voice works and how the body helps you sing rather than just going from warm up to song week after week. Thank you Griffith for such a fabulously fun way to learn and become more comfortable with my voice!
Paul is a great instructor, very friendly, very musicly knowledgeable. He's great with kids, our eight-year-old son really enjoys his music lessons with Paul. He understands his student's talent and designs lessons according to the student's skill-set. Our son learned a lot from Paul at a progressive pace. I would recommend him for any students that desire to progress artistically.
I requested singing lessons and received 6 quotes rangers big from $36/hr to $100/hr. I eliminated 3 of them just based on the message they wrote to me and their reviews or lack there of. My passion is indie rock and Jan does not fit the profile of a rocker and she was vocally trained as an opera singer. However, her reviews were positive, she was priced in the middle, her message to me was pertinent and once I called and spoke to her I was sold. I didn't bother contacting the other two quotes I was interested in. Needless to say, my hunch was right and I had my first lesson last week. It went incredibly well. She amazed me. I am a song writer wanting to improve my vocals so I can work indecent from hiring a singer. I showed he some of my recorded originals and within seconds she knew what I had to improve to make my voice fit the song better. We changed the key a whole step, she had me pronounce some of the words differently and she gave input in to what could improve for the song instrumentally. She started showing me current artists and what I could take from their particular songs to inspire some rhythmic changes. she had suggestions on where to go and present my music to sale for commercial/tv/advertising. She had big picture advice on where to focus my energies. I couldn't believe what we packed in to a one hour rehearsal. She sat at her piano and taught me vocal exercises and explained to me how I could improve on them with what I call tricks to break certain bad habits I have formed. I can't wait to see her next week. She can totally rock!!!
My experience has been very good.. At first I came in just wanting to sing songs but after taking a few weeks of lessons I have learnt so much more than I was expecting and really learned how to use my voice in the correct way!
Stephanie is a very patient and pleasant teacher. My son now looks forward to his piano lessons and is actually enjoying them. She is a great choice if you are looking for someone who makes teaching fun.
I've had four lessons so far with Steve, and I am so pleased with how it is going! Steve is very skilled, patient, kind, punctual and professional. He responds to all my questions, and is very encouraging. He comes to my office in Pasadena to give me my lesson. I find that the biggest challenge in learning something new, is keeping my own internal critic under control as I struggle with note reading, and learn how to play the guitar. The fact that Steve is so patient and never critical helps to offset my internal critic. I have felt self doubting in the first two lessons, but by lesson 3, I am confident that if I keep practicing and working with Steve, eventually I will get it. Steve also shared info re his Taylor Mini guitar which is much smaller than the typical guitar, easier for me to play because the frets are smaller for smaller hands. I just bought my own Taylor Mini, a beautiful instrument which also inspires me to keep at it! Steve is also introducing some popular songs starting in lesson 3, which also makes it more enjoyable. This is one of the best decisions I have made for myself, and I am very happy that I was lucky to find Steve. He's great!
We decided to chose Brian for my teenage daughter's beginning guitar lessons due to his willingness to teach her the type of songs that she wanted. Right away he connected with her and her music. He taught her the theory behind playing guitar as well as teaching her the tricks and skills of how to play the guitar. His practices were enjoyable and not just rote. She learned very quickly and therefore stayed excited about learning. Brian was always very complementary and encouraging. Brian also helped us buy useful equipment like a tuner, etc. She always felt safe and comfortable. We would highly recommend Brian as a guitar teacher.
After almost about... I dunno, what is it, 3 or 4 years of talking Amazing Voice Lessons? Anyway, after about that many years or so, I gotta say that these lessons really HAVE improved my singing a lot. Not only has it helped my singing and performance on stage, but it's also helped my self-esteem and enabled me to relax and just let my hair down. I hope to keep continuing these lessons for as long as I can because trust me, AVL is a gift that just keeps on giving.
For the vocal lessons, I learned how to use my diaphragm, also Im learning different styles of singing with my voice. I can now use my voice to go to alto and to mezzo soprano to soprano. I always try to practice my vocal exercises she gives me and the songs that we work on in the lessons. The exercizes are helping my technique improve daily. April is a teacher that pushes you to practice and work hard to be a strong singer. She pushes me but Im improving at the same time. I feel she wants me to be successful as a singer. She makes me feel like I can do it!
Very to the point and knowledgeable about the instrument. He obviously has studied the guitar for a long time and knowing that makes the lessons comfortable and effective.
Kimberly Allison is the best guitar teacher I have had. I have thought what it would have been like to have taken guitar lessons from Randy Rhoads or Joe Satriani. Kimberly is my Rhoads and Satriani. I'm getting world class lessons under her tutlage. I wish I would have taken my first guitar lesson with her.
I was, no, am so impressed with every aspect of Mr. Snydman's lessons. Need I say more? Yes! In addition to his musical knowledge, he is a genuinely kind caring person.
I have been having singing lessons from Mia Milan for the last couple of months. She a supportive and encouraging teacher and her kind and caring nature has allowed me to improve my confidence in performing in front of a crowd. She tailors her lessons to me and provides constructive feedback when needed. I can't recommend her enough!
Howard Richman is not a piano teacher...he is a LIFE CHANGER. I went to him to learn piano...but realized that the lessons I learned studying piano with the MASTER were not merely lessons in music....but lessons that helped me see outside the paradigm in all areas of my life. Often, as adults, we "come back" to our music...to study what we have been "wanting to get back to" for years. I learned that this is often a time of great change and evolution for us personally. Howard, being so intuitive, knows how to tune in to each individual's needs.... and empower them to EMPOWER themselves. He is a BRILLIANT pianist, composer and master teacher. I've watched him perform miracles with young children who struggled with other teachers who simply wanted to teach "by the book." Howard is always able to find your inner talent and abilities, possibly that are even unknown to you...and he can creatively, intuitively and intelligently create a course of action that will leave you amazed! That's why you are reading SO many wonderful comments here about him. If you are lucky enough to get to study with Howard, it will change your life!...and btw, I can now play a mean Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata"....Thank you for everything you taught me Howard Richman! "Dr. Rose Chen is knowledgeable in music and passionate about teaching music. Besides teaching me how to read the symbols on the sheet music, she emphasizes on ear training and musicianship. She has helped me to become a better sight-reader and my understanding of music has allowed me to start writing my own music- all thanks to Dr. Chen. She is also capable of teaching skills needed to play different styles of music. My lessons always include classical pieces and some of my favorite songs by Stevie Wonder. I highly recommend Dr. Chen as a piano teacher."
Our 2 children have been taking piano lessons with Dory for more than a year and it has been an outstanding experience since then. Dory is not only a music teacher (not only for piano btw), he is a musician and a composer. My children have made incredible progresses in piano but they've also learnt to love music, understood the principles of styles, composition, orchestra etc... Dory customizes the approach for each child, always making sure his students progress at their pace and continue enjoying what they do. The studio is very peaceful, well decorated and inspiring. Even for me it's a peaceful and very pleasant moment when I stay there for an hour.
I took vocal lessons with Mariela for about 4 month, and this was one of the best investment I've done, my range got wider, my tone got better, I can hit Higher notes.. These weird exercises worked lol !! What sets her apart other vocal teachers is that she's actually a great singer and performer. Thanks Mariela !!
This is a great music school and lot of fun for kids. They had a recital in Lee Chapel this year. Donna Lee, the owner puts her heart and soul in the school. I'm sure your kids will love music lessons and enjoy it.

I have two nieces and one nephew. Taking lessons at home, my eldest niece started reading music, learning guitar and piano several days after her kindergarten ceremony. By the time she entered 6th grade she outperformed me in many areas even though I was also taking lessons from Ernest. He always shows great care in the process of learning, practicing, and mastering the instrument. My nephew ended up picking up the guitar and my youngest niece acquired the language of music & instruction possibly as early as her crawling under the keyboard and listening to her older sisters lessons over the years. By the time the youngest entered 1st grade she was composing legitimate piano pieces and all three kids eventually shined as the brightest music stars in their K-8 school. Ernest is sensitive to the needs and interests of the learner. Whenever possible he provides additional time. His foresight and attention to detail facilitates the maturation process and sustained growth available only through the delivery and mastery of his craft. My niece expressed gratitude by giving him drawings of the sun, clouds, hearts, trees and smiley faces beneath the words, tHANk yOu ErnSt. Grandma also happily made snacks and treats for Ernest. At this time I cant think of anything for Ernest to improve because the proof can be heard in the music. I will be more than happy to discuss our music lessons with ErnSt.
We have had the pleasure of taking piano lessons from Wendy since 2009 and are still going strong. I have seen my two children flourish under her. She tailors each lesson and makes learning fun. Very positive, with just the right amount of pressure so that they progress but still enjoy what they are doing.
