I walk away from each class feeling like I had a tough, physical workout; gained technical knowledge and; most importantly, had a lot of fun! The program is all-levels. When I first started, I had a few years of Krav experience but very little knowledge of MMA, and have grown to Iove and respect the sport through this program. Leslie K. says, "Andrew is a wonderful instructor. He is truly passionate about teaching and is incredibly knowledgable about the art. Learning budo taijutsu has helped my confidence and anxiety. It's taught me about problem solving—not just in martial arts but in my life. I have a black belt in TKD, trained in Shaolin Kung Fu, Karate, and a little bit of BJJ, but I haven't found an art as holistic as budo taijutsu, which is why I chose to train in it. It doesn't rely on athleticism as much as it does on leverage, positioning, and movement. So it's great for me as a smaller person, and it just makes sense. I've trained with Andrew at various dojos. We are now training in Thousand Oaks in a backyard setting. Highly recommend trying out a class!"See more

Johnny is amazing. I made the effort to find him after being injured in a class. The moderate sprain took a good 4 months to recover from. In my opinion, his knowledge and experience or beyond any of the instructors that I had, charging about the same for class. Given that this is one-on-one instruction, it is a great value. In addition, he strives for perfection and is watching carefully that the self-defense maneuvers are executed properly, which in the end is what is necessary to defend oneself on the street, or anywhere. He is a great communicator, and an extremely pleasant person to work with. I'm extremely pleased with my progress. As a relative beginner, it's also comforting knowing that he is at the level to teach students who have a black belt and prepare them for competition. Highest recommendation. If only everyone in this world were as good at what they do as Johnny.
