- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I’ll ask if you have any questions, make you laugh a bit, introduce myself, make you feel comfortable. We do a quick tour of the studio. I show you some vocal warm ups if it's a voice lesson. Then I give you a recording of the warm ups for you to practice to save you time & money. Then we sing together so you feel supported! Or you sing on your own if you feel ready. I check your range so you know which notes are comfortable for you to sing so that we can choose some songs for next time that you love!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Yes! My best teachers taught me to be a life long learner. Every summer I attend two weeks of Brazilian Music Camp and study with master drummers, dancers, vocalists & musicians. Had the great pleasure of studying songwriting with Michael Pattison & other faculty at Berklee College of Music. Have been a longtime member of West Coast Songwriters. I attend weekly percussion & dance classes in West African, Middle Eastern, Brazilian, & Latin performance communities. Our band, DyaTribal rehearses & performs weekly. I write songs regularly & read journals on entrepreneurship in the music & teaching fields. I also study & perform traditional African percussion & drum kit with Andrew Acquista.
