FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
My first goal is to get to know the couple. Setting up a face to face meeting if possible or a phone appointment will allow us to get to know one another and see if we are a good fit. I want to understand what is their vision for the day and how I can best be of service. Many couples are very hands on and only need a little guidance and someone to execute the plans they already have in place. A "Day of Coordinator" would be what they are looking for. Others, may be very overwhelmed with all the details and decisions they'll need to make and would like more assistance. Either way, getting together and answering as many questions the couple may have and putting their mind at ease that Private Reserve Events has the experience and expertise they are looking for.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I truly got started doing this type of work because I love doing events. Each job I have worked at, I was the one organizing the luncheon, event or the party! From corporate parties, friends asking me to do their weddings, creating parties for girlfriends it has always been something I've been good at and I get great joy in making people happy. Before considering changing professions I was an Executive Account Manager for a large health care organization. I realized many of the skills s used as an account manger would translate well as an Event Coordinator. You need to be a good listener, understand completely what the client needs and wants, work well under pressure and problem solve any issues or concerns that may arise. Those traits I excel in and they serve me well as an Event Coordinator. They say do what you love for work and it won't feel like work. I have found that to be true!
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
You know, a recent project that I did this September was really fun. It was unusual for me because it was what I call a "Petite Wedding". A couple from Colorado called and wanted a wedding for "eight people". It wasn't an elopement, just a small wedding. We planned it entirely by phone. I put a package together for them that included: Venue, officiant, a little nosh, champagne, cake, decorations, flowers and photographer. We were able to create everything a large wedding would have but for eight people. It was so much fun putting it together and we did it in about 8 weeks. I loved it so much I'd love to do more of that size. Sweet and charming.
