Jason was superb in every way! He was communicative, professional letting me know his arrival time so I wasn't worried (as sometimes it can be stressful hosting events and making sure the vendors are actually going to show up) Then, when Jason started to play his music- wow! What a talent! He understood the vibe of the environment and was amazing! If you want to an uber talented professional to provide incredible entertainment for your event- Jason is your artist! Thank you! Thank you!

Silly Twister was the perfect entertainer for a children's party with four to 12 year-olds. Our theme was Star Wars and she created laser sabers, shields, helmets, characters and many more fun objects from balloons...would definitely hire her again!

Jesse is AWESOME! I have worked with him on numerous occasions from corporate events to even my own wedding. He and his staff are great to work with. Jesse always arrives on time, comes prepared and gets involved with the clients to establish a personal relationship and not just be all business. I continue to refer him to any and all of my clients as his services are a great addition to any event. I highly recommend Jesse Arroyo for all your photography needs!

Dawn and her daughter at Affordable Bliss Events were an absolute pleasure to work with! I was nervous at first to book with them for our photo booth and dessert bar solely because they didn't have a ton of reviews yet, but Dawn was kind enough to drive up from San Diego to meet with me for coffee to discuss their packages and options in person. She is so sweet and professional, I could've chatted with her for days. As someone in the corporate world myself, I greatly value businesses who handle themselves in a professional manner and respond to my inquiries/emails quickly. Dawn always responded to me very quickly and answered every question I had thoroughly. She was always available for me to bounce ideas off of and gave great advice. We had ABB do both the photo booth and dessert bar on our wedding day, and both were an absolute HIT! Our guests devoured the desserts immediately, which means they must've been delicious! Our photo booth was busy all night long and Dawn and her daughter were hustling all night to get our guests their photos and having them sign the photo album. I LOVED looking through the online gallery of all of the photo booth pics in the days after our wedding, we will cherish these hilarious and sweet photos for the rest of our lives. Best guest book ever! I highly recommend Affordable Bliss Events for any event you may have coming up, we will absolutely be using them again!

I had heard Gary Rich play at our corporate event, and thought he'd be perfect for my cousin's wedding, and he was! He plays Guitar, Piano and Vocal beautifully, and played beautiful music at her ceremony, cocktails and at the reception. I would highly recommend him again!

He was punctual for our event and went above and beyond when we asked him to work with one of our musicians. If you have a need for a musician and Cameron is availavle don't look any further, book Cameron! :)

Renee and Roy are just fantastic! They made our Holiday Christmas Party a SMASH hit! The quality of the photos is just beyond any other photo booth experience, so professional looking and personalized. Their service is so incredible, even taking the "shy" ones under their wing, and bringing them out of their shell! It was just so heartwarming to see their interaction with the party guests, and how much fun everyone was having. Their props are of the finest quality, and they have SO MANY fun things to bring the photos to life! I just couldn't be happier to have chosen Renee and Roy as our Photo Booth pros - they were the BEST!! Whether it's a wedding, a corporate event, or just a house-party, Keepsake Memory Booth is the best choice you can make, we will be using them again and again. They're a hoot!

I've known Mike for over a decade. I am constantly amazed at how many entrepreneurial balls he manages successfully. To do all that and also nurture a happy and loving relationship with his wife and family and his many friends makes him a remarkable man. His success is based on the simple rule of treating others the way you want to be treated. Thanks for asking me to speak for him.

We recently had the pleasure of having Marcela and Craig play at our wedding. As expected, the music was excellent. A little less expected, we had a lot of help with setup and even with the ceremony audio. I don't think a band could have done more to make the entertainment at our reception more worry free, and it would not have been the same without them to keep the dance floor full.

Derek is one of the nicest guys in the entertainment business. He cares about the customer and his quality is on point. My wife is hard to fool and he would fool her over and over. He is able to get in the mind of the spectator and make them truly believe that the impossible is possible. Very professional, funny and very easy to get along with. Highly recommended!!!

I am one of Ed's "older" students. I came to him at a very later part of my life with absolutely no musical background. None!! I told him that I someday wanted to become a member of a church choir. He accepted this challenge. He was very kind, and patiently worked with building my confidence in singing during my first year with him. I've been with him for a couple years now, and I am extremely satisfied to have Ed as my singing instructor. His excellent ear/skills for music is what he uses to capture your style and applies it to that particular person. He is very diverse with his music; being able to teach all genres, i.e. R&B, Pop, Country, Church Choir. What ever you like, he can teach you! The singing I use to dream about, Ed is teaching me to bring it alive. I'm using my head voice, my chest voice, and finally some vibrato is coming my way!! When God said, "start singing," He also gave me the perfect instructor. I would highly recommend Ed Barrena for people of "all" ages -beginners and advanced. Pattie G.

Ryan's energy, talent and passion is amazing to experience. He really knows how to read a crowd and bring everyone to their feet and out of there comfort zone. He will literally have everyone laughing, dancing and singing and sometimes crying and usually tears from laughter. His ability to freestyle lyrics is amazing to witness. Words do not express the value Ryan adds to any party or Corporate Event. Experiencing it is a gift.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    What is a mariachi band?

Mariachi bands are rooted in Mexican culture. Traditional mariachi bands consisted of two or more members playing stringed instruments, wearing regional costumes adapted from the charro (Mexican horseman or cowboy). Modern mariachi bands, which are likely what you’re looking for when searching for a mariachi band for hire, feature at least four members who play stringed instruments (violin, vihuela, bass guitar called guitarron) and one or more trumpets. The costumes have remained the same, but now trumpets are synonymous with mariachi music. Mariachi bands for hire often play a wide range of music, including styles originating from Mexico and adopted from elsewhere. These include jarabes, waltzes, serenades, corridos (Mexican ballads), ranchera, cumbia, and more. Mariachi bands for hire bring a festive and soulful element to a party, birthday, wedding, corporate affair, fundraiser or community event. UNESCO has inscribed mariachi music on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

What is a photo booth rental?

A party photo booth is a fun, interactive experience where guests can take a series of photos (usually three or four) that are immediately printed out on a strip as a keepsake. When you rent a party photo booth, the company sets up the booth or photo station at your event; a photographer staffs the booth and coaches guests on how to use it throughout the event. Often the photo booth rental company provides props like silly hats, wigs and glasses. There are different types of party photo booth rentals. An open-air booth has a curtain or backdrop that allows more freedom of movement and enables more people to use it at one time. The traditional enclosed photo booths that you may have seen at the mall or the fair tend to cost more to rent, as they are harder to transport and also cost more for the pros to purchase. The national average cost for party photo booth rentals is $400-$500.

How many mariachis can a band have?

A mariachi band for hire can have as many players as you like. Modern mariachi bands typically have a minimum of four players with the trumpet playing a vital musical role along with stringed instruments such as the violin, guitarrón (a Mexican bass guitar with a deep body), vihuela (a Spanish stringed guitar) and guitar. Strong vocals are also an important component of mariachi bands for hire, since one or more of the players will be singing during the performance. For a truly spectacular show, you can hire a mariachi band with 15 or more players. The medley of stringed instruments, multiple trumpets, soaring vocals, and even an accordion or harp is powerful and beautiful. Mariachis typically wear the traditional costume of charros — Mexican horsemen. The look is a very regal, monotone suit, often in black or white, with silver adornments and embroidery. Mariachi bands often wear sombreros as well. Traditional mariachi bands were only made up of two or more players, according to a UNESCO report celebrating the cultural heritage of the musical style. The style of music originated in the state of Jalisco. Now the style of music is symbolic of Mexico but is celebrated all over the world, and adds a fabulous vibrancy to any group’s events, parties and weddings.

How much does a mariachi band cost?

A mariachi band will bring your party or event alive with their fabulous costumes, beautiful playing and strong vocals. The cost of a mariachi band for hire will depend on how many players are in the group. Each musician in a performance group needs to be paid, so pricing is usually based on the number of mariachis (musicians), the location of the event (and travel time required), and the length of the performance. Day of the week also affects cost, as does day — Christmas, New Year’s Eve and other major holidays will cost more than regular days. The national average cost for live bands of all types ranges between $740 and $1,200. Depending on where you live and regional rates for performers, you might expect to pay between $65 and $120 per hour, per player. Mariachi groups may have 12-15 players available for performance at one time, depending on your budget. Here are some examples of how the number of players affects average cost:

    • Four mariachis: $300 per hour for weeknights, $400 per hour for weekends.
    • Five mariachis: $350 per hour for weeknights, $400-$450 per hour for weekends. Weekends may have a minimum number of hours.
    • Six mariachis: $400 per hour for weeknights, $450-$500 per hour for weekends.

How much is it to rent a photo booth for a party?

Renting a party photo booth for your next event will get your guests engaged and provide a take-home favor for attendees. The cost to rent a party photo booth will vary depending on the type of booth, the day and time of year, the length of the rental, and any add-ons you select. The national average cost for party photo booth rentals is $400-$500. Here are some examples of average party photo booth rental costs:

    • Weekday packages: $300-$550, depending on features included and length of rental. A three-hour weekday package for $500 could include guest book, personalized photo strips and DVD of all the photos.
    • Weekend packages: $450-$700, depending on features included and length of rental.
    • Additional hours: $100-$150 per extra hour.
    • Add-on features:
      • Photo guest album services: $75.
      • Personalized photo strips: $30-$50.
      • Custom photo backdrops or vinyl skin branding of the booth: $150-$300.
      • Live social media connectivity (ability to share photos to social media accounts): $100-$250.
