Raquel and Ximena are truly a wonderteam. I hired them for a large project- building a 10x10 prefab shed office. Made from 100% spruce, I was really concerned about finding a contractor who would follow the manufacturer’s instructions to a tee while not ruining the beautiful natural look of the wood.
Raquel went above and beyond to not only follow the instructions, but also catch discrepancies between the manual and the video instructions, and to come up with creative solutions that transformed a kit shed into something that looks custom made. For instance, because the previous contractor we hired had left a gap under the wooden foundation for the shed, and Raquel devised an ingenious (and aesthetic) solution. She purchased pressure treated fence posts, and cut them to size to fit beneath the shed, matching our redwood deck perfectly.
Beyond the high quality of work, what I appreciated most about Raquel's business was her clear communication and collaborative approach. I got several quotes for this project before choosing a contractor, and most of the guys I talked to were dismissive or overly confident. I was not convinced that they would actually follow the instructions for the (literally) 1000+ pieces of wood & hardware for this kit, much less that they would let me have a say in the details of the work. By contrast, Raquel is a great listener and a collaborative thinker - it was important to me that I was able to to help out with the construction to help cut down costs and so that I better understood the structure if there was ever a repair needed in the future. Of course, Raquel & Ximena would have easily been able to complete this on their own if I had just passed them the manual, but for hands-on homeowners, it is nice to know there are supportive construction professionals that see you as a partner in the work as opposed to an annoyance. Especially as a woman, I am used to being talked down to or infantilized by contractors, which i HATE. This duo was a breath of fresh air, incredibly hardworking & cheerful to boot. I have already consulted with them to get a quote for my next project, a set of built in bookshelves!"See more
