Hiring Mark was the best decision we ever made. You should definitely book Mark. He was our videographer and did an amazing job despite our low light in the ceremony. He was professional from the moment we met him, and his work is fantastic. He knew how to capture every moment and yet we were never aware of his prescense. He does beautiful work, is very professional and fast. My daughter received her DVD's (both regular and blu-ray) in less than 4 weeks, and were able to relive her wedding all over again. I highly recomment Mark. I promise you will be so happy with Mark on the day of the wedding, and once your get his beautifully crafted DVD's.

Let me start by saying, planning a wedding and finding the perfect vendors from another state is tough! When my husband and I nervously decided we needed a video, we told each other we were only doing this if we found someone who will make us feel comfortable, and tell our story organically. We did not want the classic video montage, but rather some storytelling aspects and just something that felt effortless. Did I mention we were nervous? We are not video people... pictures only! When we started interviewing videographers, we were striking out left and right. I think we interviewed 20+ before receiving an email from Attis Photography. After a wonderful phone conversation with Anita, who made me feel so comfortable and confident about a wedding video, Josh and I knew we finally found our perfect match! It was as though they new us after a 1.5 hour long phone chat. It seriously is so important to talk with your videographers... let them get to know you and your relationship before the big day. Attis photography did just this. The day came, and we felt like we hired friends to video us. They were easy going, took footage of what the day was, not asking us to pose, and our guest seemed to really enjoy them! What more could we ask for!? One morning we woke up to an email from Attis...it was the link to our video!!! We were without words when we watched our video for the first time on my phone. We laughed and cried all in 7minutes. Attis Photography produced one of the most beautiful memories I have yet to see from my life thus far. So thankful our life crossed their path...thank you Attis- Chis and Anita you are amazing! https://vimeo.com/user53422025

Mark did an excellent job as our wedding videographer. He was professional and didn't miss a beat on our wedding day. I would call it "thorough" (while some videographers might have been in our face, Mark was there without being too evident). A perfect balance. The finished product was just what we wanted and fit our budget perfectly. A rough cut and a beautiful 15 minute edit. Mark captured all the details, even a few things that our photographer missed. We loved our video highlights enough to order a few additional copies. We highly recommend Marabate Studios!

With less than a month to the wedding and no videographer booked, I thought we weren't going to have a professional recording of our wedding. I found Daniella through Thumbtack and after looking through the videos on her website, knew we had to book her! She worked within our budget to give us full coverage and the raw footage from the event, as well as a 3-4 minute highlight video set to music. She even attended our rehearsal to scope out the venue and take some footage that she incorporated into our highlight video! The videographer who shot our wedding was Adam, he was like a ghost, every time I looked up he was there, but he never got in the way or stood out--which was perfect. Daniella sent us the highlight video within two weeks following the wedding and has been an absolute pleasure to work with.

Merve has been absolutely incredible to work with. Not only was she on time, professional, kind, and gracious during our entire actual filming process, she has done nothing short of incredible editing for our promo video. We are super picky, and were concerned about looking good on camera, but Merve knew exactly the lighting to use with us, and was super receptive to all of our requests. The video is amazing and we will absolutely be working with her for all of our videos moving forward. Totally exceeded all of my expectations.

Mr Shinn shot a video of my music group which consisted of a choir of twenty children for one number and a one child's solo for the other. I was very impressed with his timeliness, his attention to details and his professional suggestions based on his experience as a professional Videographer. What would have improved my experience was a better job of synchronizing the audio with the video however he did a great job with what he was given to work with. I will be using him to video tape our upcoming musical performances.

Outstanding service and very professional. I get a phone call from my boss saying that he needed a videographer to follow around a celebrity and it needed to be done in 2 hours. Our company, www.digipromedia.com is located in Florida. This event took play in downtown Los Angeles. I find Chris Cairns from Corpfilms and thankful that he was the right pick. Let's just say that Chris more than exceeded our expectations. Chris arrived early, shot the event, is making edits and the rest is history. We highly recommend Chris and will more than be using his talents in the future. Thank you Chris and thank you Thumbtack.

Tatiana was wonderful to work with and provided us with an amazing keepsake video that we will cherish for many, many years to come. Tatiana arrived before our wedding, right on schedule, ready to start filming. The drone footage she got of our venue and surrounding areas was a beautiful added touch- something I never would have thought we needed but something I am so glad she offered and captured. Tatiana pays great attention to detail and truly has a fine, artistic eye. Her rates were reasonable and affordable, and when we got the video back, it truly felt like we were reliving every moment of our wedding day. The video brought me, and several others to tears. From the creative shots, professional editing, and even down to the awesome songs she chose for the video, we really could not have asked for more. Tatiana got amazing shots without ever feeling invasive, which was just an added bonus. We would definitely recommend her to anyone needed videography!

I worked with Kevin on a local political campaign and the entire process was very enjoyable. I explained the concept to him and he was able to deliver exactly what I wanted to promote my candidate. Not only that, but the profesional insight & suggestions he provided along with clear communication throughout proved him to be a better choice than other videographers whom we reached out to. It was also very useful that Kevin had a fantastic studio which really amplified the quality of the video and the overall experience for us. I’m glad that we could use quote-matching to get top-knotch quality at a cost that works with our budget.

Grant and Louis covered the footage of my wedding and i definitely recommend them if you are looking for excellent videographers. They were absolutely fabulous to work with and captured every aspect of my wedding. They are easy to communicate with and were very quick to reply to my questions prior to the wedding. During the wedding, they made sure to capture everything from the venue to the decorations to the first dance and cake cutting, etc. It was really great how they hooked up a wireless speaker phone to the pastor during the ceremony so the recording was clear and there was no echoing in the video. Shortly after my wedding we received our edited footage which was incredible! They did an impressive job creating a reception highlight reel, edited ceremony video and an overall wedding day highlight reel. Overall their communication skills, professionalism, video and editing capabilities and camera equipment were impressive and i would highly recommend them.

I honestly cannot say enough wonderful things about Just Love Films. From their positive attitude and professionalism to their stunning talent, I could not have chosen a more wonderful videographer. Our wedding day was stressful from the start, but as soon as Just Love Films got there and started filming video I felt like things were falling into place. I was already assured of Just Love Films considerable talent after seeing videos on their website, which I loved! But when I got the highlights video I was brought to tears. They managed to capture not only the best moments, but the spirit and energy of the best day of my life! Thank you

I interviewed 5 or 6 videographers and I felt like I was speaking a foreign language no one could capture my vision entirely. A friend had gone to a wedding a few months before and was raving about the finished product and the company who did the work. I immediately contacted LA Artist and I kid you not the lady who took my call caught my vision - granted in bits and pieces but that was enough for me. I met with the team from LA Artist and as the name says, they began to sketch out my vision on paper and after a 2hr. meeting which seemed more like 30mins, because we were brainstorming and having such fun. I walked out having signed a contract and more then anything piece of mind! If you are looking for the best in LA they are the real deal, they stayed within my budget and actually below because things I thought I needed they showed me how to get the professional and polished look I wanted without up selling me, and that I appreciated. So again LA Artist, don’t waste your time “shopping” around go directly to the Artist themselves. Signed, Satisfied and Returning Customer

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

How much is videography for a wedding?

Wedding videography is one thing many couples regret not paying for. It may seem like just another expense during wedding planning, but it’s really special to have a moving memory of your big day. The national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. Pricing can vary depending on wedding length, special film features, the amount of editing required, and how many videographers are needed to cover the event. Many videographers offer packages that provide different levels of service. A very simple wedding documentary could be $600 or more, while a full-scale cinematic experience involving multiple videographers could be $2,500 or more. Here’s an example of average package pricing:

  • Package 1: $1,400
    • Footage during and after the ceremony, including highlights requested by the couple.
    • Two cameras with audio equipment.
    • DVD including a 3- or 4-minute edit to a song of the couple’s choice and a 45- to 50-minute raw edit covering the entire event.
    • Recordings of guests’ good wishes to the couple.
  • Package 2: $1,800
    • Includes everything from Package 1, plus an additional videographer (2 total) and aerial videography.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
