The Performing Arts Coach
About this pro
Was professional and accessible,! Helped me understand how to prepare for a role and answered all my questions, even after sessions! Very supportive and knowledgeable, still going to work with her for foreseeable future:)Jul 13, 2018Verified
I hired Joanne to work with my 9 year old son and I am so glad I did! She encourages Parker to explore acting as both an art and a science. The lessons include practice and experimentation with acting methods using games and exercises that allow him to grasp incredibly complex ideas in a fun and interesting way. Parker absolutely loves working with Joanne and her knowledge and industry experience has been a great asset to me as the mom of an actor. She is always willing to answer questions from my son and myself. Simply, she's amazing!!Mar 17, 2018Verified
Joanne’s professionally an all star! I cannot put in words how instrumental she has been to help launch my acting career. Luckily I got connected with Joanne through Thumbtack over a year and we have had over 20 classes together. All of our classes have varied from one on ones to group sessions. Joanne is truly a delight to work with ALWAYS !!!! Prepared ALWAYS ready to rock and roll. She has a true investment in seeing her clients get better. I cannot see me not wanting to continue to work Joanne. I’ve appreciated all she has done for me and where my career will be going forward.Mar 9, 2018Verified
Joanne is great! She knows what she's doing, and really personalizes the lessons to the student. My son has learned so much already!Mar 9, 2018Verified
Joanne is phenomenal. My children (7, 11, & 12) adore her teaching style and demeanor. Her guidance through this labyrinth of acting has been incredibly valuable. Couldn't be more pleased.Dec 19, 2017

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?$65 for 50 minutes We can also discuss a payment plan that works for you, depending on how many sessions you book. I can also do group sessions at a lower rate.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? To begin, I suggest we set up a 15 minute free consultation, so that I can learn more about you and the goals you have created. Then, I will share with you the program that I can provide you with. My services are customized to fit your specific needs and interests. This individualized approach helps all types of clients, from those brand new to the performing arts to those with years of experience. For instance, some of my clients need daily or weekly support in their artistic work, while others need coaching on a specific audition or project. Based on your current needs, we will collaborate to develop a schedule that makes sense for you. I include feedback and will maintain regular communication regarding your progress. Together we will discover what self doubts you are holding onto. What fears you have that consistently hold you back from unleashing your most creative self. What actions you are not taking. What skills you need to learn. What areas of your work should you be committing to right now. You and I will create a sense of urgency that will motivate you to stay on track, especially when it is hard. We will commit to the work you need to do right now! I go back and forth between LA and NYC. I do most of my lessons online, which has proven to be very effective.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work? After 18 years of experience in working with performing artists all over New York City and Los Angeles, I wanted to give my clients the tools that they will need in order to achiever their goals. These tools have the power to make a remarkable difference in your work. I know this because my clients continue to book work, write productions, produce movies and make a career in doing what they love. I hold a maser's degree from New York University in Theater Education and English. I have taught drama at the middle school level for 7 years, and then owned my own children's theater, The Magic Mirror Theater for 6 years. I have also performed, produced, directed and have written plays Off Broadway.
