Thomas was amazing and very professional. Mr. Sparks showed up to our wedding on time and gracefully introduced himself to my family and friends. He captured my intimate wedding and family union and we could not be more grateful. Mr. Sparks has no idea of how his photos have blessed us. Mr. Sparks professional mannerism was noted by everyone in my family. He is not just our one time photographer, he has clients for life now. Thank you Mr. Sparks May God Bless you even a more. Love, The McCray Family

Hands down, Jennifer is the best kids' birthday guest ever. She's been to three of our birthdays with us so far and each time she was a hit. She's super engaging and has a silly playfulness that the kids just love. Her magic tricks are super cool, too (request the coloring book!). I especially recommend her for ages 3-5. Other things to mention: she's punctual, professional, and clear with her directions. Five stars!

We used LuvlyProduction for our wedding photobooth in May 2018. I was impressed by their responsiveness and their desire to make sure we had a good experience working with them. Our guests really enjoyed the props and enclosed photobooth!!! I had no complaints from our coordinator about setup or teardown. Would not hesitate to book again :)

I reached out to Hopp Productions when I was planning my wedding because I was looking for a very specific type of video. After talking to Brandon, he confirmed that he could accommodate all specific details I had hoped for my video. Brandon traveled to my wedding and 100% exceeded my expectations. He was able to get the close up footage that I was wishing for, and was also able to capture fun downtime with my wedding party. Overall, this video is worth it's weight in gold. We, have watched our video countless times since receiving it. I would recommend Brandon to anyone I know wishing for top quality video. We are very grateful for this gift we will cherish it forever.

Donna and Marcos were great to work with for our wedding. Our guests were happy with the photobooth services, the pictures printed out quick. The music services were okay and could have room for improvement in terms of fading and transitioning between songs for event orders instead of having songs stop abruptly. Other than that, they knew what songs to play to keep the dance floor later at night going. Would definitely work with them again.

He responds promtly to emails and arrived on time. My event would not have been the same without him. I will refer him to anyone looking for a DJ or a photobooth, this guys rocks.

Thank you PixCbooth for entertaining our guests on our wedding. We didn't have to give out wedding favors because of the 4x6 photo prints from PixCbooth! We saved a lot of money! Photos came out fast, high quality, and everyone got all their copies. Paul and Cathy are really approachable and they even extended on the spot. Hire them!!! Alan is great! Easy to work with and very reasonably priced. We hired him for our 25th wedding anniversary party. It was a small group - 22 people - and he entertained everyone while people were arriving and mingling and then after lunch put on a great show for everyone. He was funny and talented.

We hired the Viking Lady character for a singing birthday telegram for one of our employees. She was a huge hit at the office and so much fun. The birthday song was even personalized for the recipient which was a nice touch. :)

Daniel did a incredible show for our bridal shower. He weaved stories into the effects which were as beautiful as the magic itself. One of the most artistic and clever performances I have ever seen. It really left an impression on all of us. Worth every penny

Jessica offered a super competitive rate for her DJ services, and she was great. She was super easy to communicate with, from our initial barrage of questions in an email, to our meeting in person, and up until the day of the wedding. We felt confident that she had everything under control, including the sound for the ceremony, which was super important to us. I hate weddings where you can’t hear the ceremony! And she kept people dancing. We definitely recommend her!

The service was beyond excellent - from the first method of contact, to the end of the event. Everyone had a great time using the photobooth at our wedding, and everything came out perfectly - from the layout, to the props. Can't wait to use Box of Giggles again! Thanks for making our wedding memorable. It was a pleasure to work with you, and hope to do it again soon!

Jack's magics could be shorter and straight to the punch. For kids in the 7 year old range, the long prelude to the "magic" bored and lost them. The gig was only about 25 minutes. If Jack fine tune his gig - edited out the stories and added more "wows", then I would give him a 5 star.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a mariachi band?

Mariachi bands are rooted in Mexican culture. Traditional mariachi bands consisted of two or more members playing stringed instruments, wearing regional costumes adapted from the charro (Mexican horseman or cowboy). Modern mariachi bands, which are likely what you’re looking for when searching for a mariachi band for hire, feature at least four members who play stringed instruments (violin, vihuela, bass guitar called guitarron) and one or more trumpets. The costumes have remained the same, but now trumpets are synonymous with mariachi music. Mariachi bands for hire often play a wide range of music, including styles originating from Mexico and adopted from elsewhere. These include jarabes, waltzes, serenades, corridos (Mexican ballads), ranchera, cumbia, and more. Mariachi bands for hire bring a festive and soulful element to a party, birthday, wedding, corporate affair, fundraiser or community event. UNESCO has inscribed mariachi music on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

What is a photo booth rental?

A party photo booth is a fun, interactive experience where guests can take a series of photos (usually three or four) that are immediately printed out on a strip as a keepsake. When you rent a party photo booth, the company sets up the booth or photo station at your event; a photographer staffs the booth and coaches guests on how to use it throughout the event. Often the photo booth rental company provides props like silly hats, wigs and glasses. There are different types of party photo booth rentals. An open-air booth has a curtain or backdrop that allows more freedom of movement and enables more people to use it at one time. The traditional enclosed photo booths that you may have seen at the mall or the fair tend to cost more to rent, as they are harder to transport and also cost more for the pros to purchase. The national average cost for party photo booth rentals is $400-$500.

How many mariachis can a band have?

A mariachi band for hire can have as many players as you like. Modern mariachi bands typically have a minimum of four players with the trumpet playing a vital musical role along with stringed instruments such as the violin, guitarrón (a Mexican bass guitar with a deep body), vihuela (a Spanish stringed guitar) and guitar. Strong vocals are also an important component of mariachi bands for hire, since one or more of the players will be singing during the performance. For a truly spectacular show, you can hire a mariachi band with 15 or more players. The medley of stringed instruments, multiple trumpets, soaring vocals, and even an accordion or harp is powerful and beautiful. Mariachis typically wear the traditional costume of charros — Mexican horsemen. The look is a very regal, monotone suit, often in black or white, with silver adornments and embroidery. Mariachi bands often wear sombreros as well. Traditional mariachi bands were only made up of two or more players, according to a UNESCO report celebrating the cultural heritage of the musical style. The style of music originated in the state of Jalisco. Now the style of music is symbolic of Mexico but is celebrated all over the world, and adds a fabulous vibrancy to any group’s events, parties and weddings.

How much does a mariachi band cost?

A mariachi band will bring your party or event alive with their fabulous costumes, beautiful playing and strong vocals. The cost of a mariachi band for hire will depend on how many players are in the group. Each musician in a performance group needs to be paid, so pricing is usually based on the number of mariachis (musicians), the location of the event (and travel time required), and the length of the performance. Day of the week also affects cost, as does day — Christmas, New Year’s Eve and other major holidays will cost more than regular days. The national average cost for live bands of all types ranges between $740 and $1,200. Depending on where you live and regional rates for performers, you might expect to pay between $65 and $120 per hour, per player. Mariachi groups may have 12-15 players available for performance at one time, depending on your budget. Here are some examples of how the number of players affects average cost:

  • Four mariachis: $300 per hour for weeknights, $400 per hour for weekends.
  • Five mariachis: $350 per hour for weeknights, $400-$450 per hour for weekends. Weekends may have a minimum number of hours.
  • Six mariachis: $400 per hour for weeknights, $450-$500 per hour for weekends.

How much is it to rent a photo booth for a party?

Renting a party photo booth for your next event will get your guests engaged and provide a take-home favor for attendees. The cost to rent a party photo booth will vary depending on the type of booth, the day and time of year, the length of the rental, and any add-ons you select. The national average cost for party photo booth rentals is $400-$500. Here are some examples of average party photo booth rental costs:

  • Weekday packages: $300-$550, depending on features included and length of rental. A three-hour weekday package for $500 could include guest book, personalized photo strips and DVD of all the photos.
  • Weekend packages: $450-$700, depending on features included and length of rental.
  • Additional hours: $100-$150 per extra hour.
  • Add-on features:
    • Photo guest album services: $75.
    • Personalized photo strips: $30-$50.
    • Custom photo backdrops or vinyl skin branding of the booth: $150-$300.
    • Live social media connectivity (ability to share photos to social media accounts): $100-$250.
