FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I loved makeup and fashion all my life. I used to organize photo shoots at my house for fun as a kid. I would do my sister's and friend's makeup, style them, and set the scene. In high school and college I did everyone's makeup for theater productions, and eventually took a job as an artist with AII and MAC Cosmetics. My skills and interest continued to grow from there.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Weddings and fashion shoots are my most typical jobs and the ones I most enjoy.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I was recently doing some clients make up for their new website. A pretty well known fashion photographer was taking the photos. They had gotten their hair done by someone else before the shoot, and when the photographer arrived she immediately was upset with the way their hair looked. She had high standards and was not afraid to voice them. I was nervous as to what she'd say about my makeup, and one of the girls told me to take it as a compliment if she didn't say anything. She ended up loving my makeup and saying it more than once. I was proud that I had made an impression on someone that I looked up to and who was not easy to impress.
